...so I posted here before about my climate controls being messed up...got the whole new piece in, got the black trim around the vents and all now like the 2012 tacomas, which looks great, but the entire piece came off a 2006 Tacoma....put it all together works great, except the hot and cold are backwards.=/ I seriously feel I have let my Tacoma down haha but Im getting frustrated with it and dont want to drive it into a brick wall.=D Any ideas why they would be backwards, the dial spins the same way for my 2011, so I dont think its a hardware issuse, but I dont know.

Based on information I read about the external air temp sensor and the temp/compass display, there were some fairly significant changes to the HVAC control system in around '09. I'm surprised that the '06 control panel works in your '11 at all.

Its not the compass and HUD on the top of the cab, its the controls that make the air hot, or the air cold. haha

The newer model 09+ Tacomas use the temp sensor for the A/C unit to power the temp display on the console as mentioned in the previous post. I believe there is also a different climate control module in order to use the different sensor. That is why you can't rewire the older roof console to work in the newer Tacomas. Not sure if the different module could be causing your problem- might be just a matter of swapping a wire in your harness. I have Mitchell wiring schematics at work- I will try to have a look and see when I am at work tonight.

I know. The HVAC computer (they call it an "amplifier" for some reason) in the '09+ uses inputs from the ambient air sensor, which was altered to communicate in a different way with the compass/temp sensor. They're all talking to each other.

I looked at the schematics for both these years. The 2011 uses 4 wires to control the airbox mixing solenoid and the 2006 uses 3 wires. As mentioned in the previous post- the 2011 uses an electronic amplifier to drive the solenoid and that is not mentioned in the schematic for the 2006. The simplest driver amplifier would likely be what is called an op-amp inverter and would therefore operate in reverse of a non amplified circuit (just guessing- it is not specified). Not sure if you could reverse the positive and ground in order to solve this problem. It would depend on the configuration of the amplifier. The three wires that are in common in the circuit are wired the same except for the inclusion of the amplifier- the 4th wire in the 2011 is labeled "max" (maybe for the max A/C setting?)

Well if I turn it to full heat, the max A/C setting works. Thats what makes no since to me, it came with the 06's wiring connector, but I didnt want to splice up my Tacomas wiring anymore than I did for the illuminating 4x4 switch. Would that fix it if i used the 06 wiring adapter? I dont think it would though...because in the end it would still be the same result, right?

Probably not- the three wires in common are the same on both years of truck.

Dang. I guess I can live with it.lol Just gotta remember the gauge reflects the outside temperature now.=D
