Failure mileage 3? So like on the way home from the dealership? Sounds like someone got a lemon or some service jockey screwed up somewhere.

With that said, one complaint doesnt immediatly suggest a recurring problem with the 2012's. I'm still confident in buying one.

Can you describe? I've got a strange sound from the rear end of my 2011 that sounds like a rear brake dragging or something. I'm going to let the dealer attempt figure that one out, but I have little faith that they'll be successful tracking it down...

sounds like a bad caliper... L/F my first guess. Sticking on and overheating the rotor, causing it to shake and pull.

it could be the gap around the windshield?? i thought about doing the rubber stripping you use for screen doors around the edge like ive seen someone else do.... but as a preventative since mine isnt making the noise

Not related to the faulty windshield seal on earlier model Tacomas?

dont think its the windshield. if it was, it most probably would do it at all high speeds. this is from about 40-45 mph.

i dont think its faulty? there is just a perfect like 1/8" gap around the left/right sides and the top. id like to see how many people are hearing it. i live in oklahoma and today we had steady 30kt south winds with gusts in the high 40kt range, i drive straight into the wind on my way home, other than hearing a small amount from the doors (when the gusts hit, totally not a terrible amount of noise) i dont hear anything that throws up any flags...

    Mine doesn't do it.

Or rather, it might do it, but I can't tell because of club disease.

Do what the TSB does. Cover the top edge and top corners of the windshield seal with tape. If whistling disappears, begin removing small sections of the tape until sound comes back.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Glad none of this has happened to my truck yet, no wind noise or whistles anywhere. My only complaint is something rattles in the dash sometimes, usually on cold mornings. And of course the squeaky leafs, plan to get the TSB done for that though, anyone know if the leafs squeak on the 2012s?

I bought a 2012 tacoma about a month ago. So I went ahead signed in to TW forum. I like it alot. And this is my first replay to this quote. I have whistling noise too. But it's coming out of the HVAC vent, driver side, far left. About 40mph miles and higher speed, mostly on freeway. I know its not the windshield for sure. because went I switch to air recirulating mode it stops. it has to do something in the cowel or inside vent duct system . I used to be GM tech for 10 years. And I worked alot on wind noises. most of them were SUV AND VETS. But this one is stranger to me. Guys try to reset the vent to recirculaing mode see if it goes away. ON / OFF see if stops and comes back. And let me know. I'm working on it to fix this problem. Hate to take my truck to dealer.

No noises on my 2012, including the leafs. Of course, it only has about 600 miles on it.:p
