yea they are a little pricey. however if you can find some used they would be worth it. maybe get lucky and find someone who went to long travel or something.

ok. rear protection, check. now to address the rest of the truck. i searched around and decided on a set of 4xinnovations kick out sliders. i like these because of the low price and the ability to get them in DOM, as i knew i would be tough on them.

here you can see one of the rubbing problems i experienced. the rear tire, when fully stuffed, actually contacted the front of the fenders.

    guys_run_001_b950781a9e60e8359669be5315210e066f9e7c53.jpg

on one trip i actually stuffed the rear drivers side enough to buckle the bedside, resulting in a nice little dent right behind the gas door. after this i ordered some "relocation plates", and a rear ubolt flip kit from all-pro. the plates allowed me to more the axle backwards 1/2" without modifying anything. this gave me ample clearance and when flexing the tire is now centered in the fender opening.

once i decided i wanted a new front bumper with winch i knew the 885's would suffer and sag. so i began looking into coilovers. i decided to take the road less traveled and ordered up a set of FOX 2.0 remote resevoir's. got these installed easily and let me tell you, these things ride like a cadillac!!! the resevoir has a 7 position adjustable dampner, i usually leave mine on 3 which makes the ride very comfortable. also, for some unknown reason, i decided i wanted to install a electric fan. actually after seeing Pb2theMax's truck i kinda liked his setup and thought it would work well offroad. so i installed a Spal 16" electric fan with a variable speed controller. this works out extremely well offroad. after spending hours crawling rocks in 100 deg. temps the truck still maintains 185 deg water temp with the fan forced on.

next up was the front. i decided ARB and Shrockworks bumpers were just to heavy for what i wanted to do. ordered up an All-Pro plate bumper, along with two sets of Piaa 510's. one set is the SMR fog light, the other the standard driving lights. also got my hands on an XRC10 winch and some amsteel blue synthetic line. i decided to take advantage of the openings to either side of the winch so i fabbed up some brackets to hold the driving lights in place. originally the bumper hoop was on backorder so i rode without it for around a month or so. you can also see the coilovers in some of these pics.

you can also see the allpro front skid in these pictures. originally i was also running the allpro full transfer case skid as well.

yea. they are still fully assembled in the garage. at the moment i am holding on to them for when the coilovers have to be rebuilt. this gives me something to throw on for a week or two so i can still drive the truck.

well, if you need a vulture for your parts collecting dust, i pretty much want your initial set up. that is if you decide you wanna get rid of them.

I love how you put the other set of 510s in the middle holes near the winch! You mentioned fabbing up mounts for it, but how'd you do it? And do they interfere with the winch at all? Any trouble accessing the winch?

they dont interfere at all as long as you have small to medium hands. obviously i cant reach through that hole to access the clutch release on the winch anymore, however i can reach through the middle hole above the fairlead on mine. i just fabbed up some brackets that bolted to the two bolts that hold the top middle section to the bottom middle section. that way there were no holes drilled.

after spending some time on the trails i decided the soft tonneau cover probably wasnt the best use of the bed. so i ordered a UWS chest toolbox and found a deal on a used tiregate. this would also solve my problem as to where to put the spare. this is a bad picture angle but only one i have of that time.

    100_0015_9fada151cc64c89e0ee3acde72fdeffad8e4581f.jpg

i also mounted a viair 450 compressor in the large storage compartment on the drivers side of the bed, and a tank mounted under the bed where the spare went. this was added to air up tires and also to run the ARB locker i installed in the rear.

eventually after many trail rides i got tired of hearing the rear bumper and hitch dragging over obsticles. so i decided to begin fabbing up a new bumper that would maximize clearance and provide more protection! :D

    this was the outcome!

    100_0074_d2749b04f6284876c9849152e33d68d3871ba6a9.jpg

this bumper maximizes the departure angle. the lowest part of the bumper all the way around is exactly the same height as the bottom of the frame.
