Cannot find a straight answer on whether or not 265/75r16 duratracs will rub on a bone stock 1st gen tacoma with stock wheels. Mine's a 03 trd 4x4. I know most tires of that size have no problems, but I feel like the duratracs are probably actually larger than most 265/75r16's. All of the fitment info I can find pertains to 2nd gens and modified 1st gens. And if they do require trimming to fit, what kind of trimming?

I'm trying to decide between the 265/75r16 duratracs, and the 265/70r16 hankook at-m rf10's. 95-99% of the time I know the hankooks would be a better fit for the kind of driving I do, but the extra grip during that 1-5% I think would probably make it all worth it. Just like how I have a ton of tools, and a LOT of them I rarely ever use, but when I do use them, I thank god I have them. Living in the NW the toughest kind of conditions we get are mostly slushy snow and mud, which is where i think the duratracs would be much better than the hankooks.

They'll fit, but they may rub a little on the frame when making a sharp turn and going over a bump.

I ran them on my 04 for a few months before I lifted it and I can assure you the rubbing is infrequent and very minimal.

    Thanks, nice truck!

I did. If you actually read my original post rather than only the title you would know that.

update. Ended up buying the duratracs in 245/75r16. Same overall diameter as stock, just narrower which will actually increase traction in most situations. (other than snow/mud above the frame height, and sand, conditions which I never really drive in) I wanted to keep all of my gearing (power) and an accurate speedometer/odometer.

Somewhat annoyingly the weather has been absolutely amazing for the last week or so, they haven't even seen rain!!! I can report though that the handling is about the same as the highway terrain goodyears they replaced, and they are VERY quiet for how aggressive they are. You can only really hear them when the radio is off. Even then it's still way less road noise than most econoboxes.

Well I don't want to create a new thread and add to the many that are there already. I hope that "shampoop" is fine with this.

I would like to have a detailed answer on wether the 265/75R16 duratrac's will rub on a bone stock newer model tacoma. I know everyone says this size will fit, but I only take half of what people say as true. I am looking for details on if they do rub, where do they and to what extent. is this at slow speed or high speed turns, loaded un loaded.

I have a 2012 and I would hate to ruin my truck, just to make it look a little better and perform a little better. I want to go with this size so that when i decide to go with a 3" lift, I have a tire that suits the lift.

Please provide any information you have, even if it is about this size in a tire similar to the duratracs. I am looking to buy tires within a week or so.

Beautiful truck. Are the duratracs in this picture 265 75 r16? Or are these a bigger size, after you lifted your rig? I've been thinking about a set of duratracs if I stay at stock height, but I might go 285 70 r16 if I decide On a lift. They look excellent on your truck.

Thanks man, the truck is completely stock in that picture and yes the tires are 265/75/16. I switched to a 285/75/16 after the lift.

Not sure if your question is directed at me, but I went with Hankook Dynapro MT when I switched to 285's. Just wanted to try something different.
