Idaho BS thread in the PNW

Yea I was checking out bogus basin since its relatively close but I was just unsure on which resorts are considered the good ones. I appreciate any and all feedback though.

 

is there any dedicated 4x4 parks in Idaho? not exactly sure what they are called but i figured somebody would know what i mean

 

bogus is fantastic for what it is (and thats not saying its bad). I think its amazing how cool of a place it is for being 16 miles from the capitol. 2600 acres, 240" of snow annually, 1800 ft of vertical drop, night skiing....its a pretty sweet local hill. If you want to drive 2 1/2 hours brundage is WEEELLLLLL worth it. Its my favorite place to go in the state. It has the best snow, the most snow, and absolutly killer terrain. Glades and tree runs all over the place. You can ride the entire hill and not touch a groomer. Its amazing. Tamarack is closer, about 1 1/2 hours. It has more vertical than brundage or bogus, 2800, but due to a bankrupsy lawsuit it is down to 900 acres. If i was heading up 55 i would drive the extra distance and just go to brundage. Sun Valley in my opinion is not even worth it, if you want a classy resort town go there, but if you want real skiing, go to brundage.

 

actually, i believe i have. Me and some friends were downtown during the summer one friday night (during the cruise) and we heard this very muscle car-esque VROOOOOM, most of us being car guys all snap out heads torwards the beautiful sound trying to find it. We got a glimpse of it a few times as it circled around, it was a dark color, but i dont remember if it was a GTO or not.

 

I believe that night (may have been a different night, dont remember) after getting in the cars and cruising around we caught up with the mystery car that might have been your friends gto, and we were at a light with him, it turned green and sure enough, left these sick 11's through the intersection, dam that was a beast of a car.

haha im usually riding in one of thoes, because im cheap and dont want to waste gas driving around. Fortunately my friends with jap imports are not morons and actually know their stuff about cars and respect cars like that and dont try to show off or race em. they stick to racing cars around their same level and making 16 year olds with cans on their civics look like complete idiots.

Definitely tamarack if your into park. hands down the best as far as kickers, rails, pipe... For powder hit up brundage. An bogus if you like to snowboard on ice and rocks

oh hell no, schweitzer is alomst twice the distance as it is to salt lake, and in salt lake i can snowboard some of the best terrain in the U.S.


its finally snowing pretty good in the valley!!!! Super stoked!!!!! bogus is finally getting some dam snow

 

ya I can agree with you about bogus, if you can avoid 50-75%
of the mountain you will find sub par snow!!!!!

and regardless of tamarack setbacks, their park will still reign
superior with or without a pipe.
(Sun Valley park, are you kidding!?!?)
they have maybe 3-4 shitty booters and maybe 4 rails?
all the yuppies don't go to Sun Valley for the non existent park.
Your better off at bogus for a park sesh rather than sun valley.

One thing we can agree on, Brundage + Powder FTW. and maybe even Sun Valley for that category.. always good snow the many times i've been to SV.

 

in all fairness I will say i have not been to SV in 3 years, maybe they have widened their demographics by upgrading their park

 

i was up at sun valley last year for new years, they have definitely changed their park set up. its not just some crappy kickers and 4 rails, its not even on bald mountain. They moved the park to dollar mountain, and it takes up almost half of the "hill". there was a pretty good jump line, and three different jib parks i guess you would call them. I didnt get to spend much time there though. but for the drive and the 80 dollar lift ticket, sun valley gets a fuck no. i would go to brundage any day of the week instead.

Oh bogus for sure for a park sesh, thats what ill be doing 2-3 times a week hopefully when the snow sucks, but thats because its 16 miles away haha. but bogus's park is pretty sparce compared to just about everywhere.
