difference between US and Canadian Tacomas?

Hi all i'm gathering information concerning the Tacoma for a future purchase. Anyways, is the truck the exact same in USA and Canada? I think for example, Canadians have 4 leaf springs vs 3 for the US ?

Other than the speedomter readings, they are alike in every way.

 

The Canadian trucks do come standard with the 4 leaf packs instead of the 3. I thought I also read on here that the traction control systems might be a little different, not different technology, but different in what systems are available for a given trim level, etc. All I know is that the Toyota Canada site talks about A-TRAC being available on the Off Road and Sport packages, whereas I thought it was only available on the Off Road in the US (whereas the Sport just has TRAC in the US). I could be wrong on this one though and I'm certainly not up to speed on all the different things going on with the traction control systems. I really should sit down and look at all of that stuff.

in canada you don't get the Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Assist Control (DAC) on the off-road in Canada
you don't get the JBL either
you can get a factory leather option with heated seats
you cannot get a double cab short bed automatic tranny
you cannot get a double cab off-road
you get 4 leafs (TSB)

there are different yes. We get VSC+A-TRAC on the sport model.

More models of Tacoma are offered in the USA such as the single cab. I also think the US has access cab in sport version and Canada does not and I think in Canada you can only get the TRD Off Road in Access Cab and not double cab which sucks. I wish the single cabs were offered in Canada tho, they look soo sweet.

The DC/AC/RC ratio is about 55/35/10% from what I remember. Canadian sales are about 1/10th that of the US. Toyota probably figured 1000 trucks a year wasn't worth the expense to certify it for the Canadian market.

If you live close to the border, there's nothing preventing you from importing one into Canada.

 

Are you sure about that? If it's used you should have no problem but US dealers won't sell brand new to Canadians (at least this was the case about 3 years ago when there was a ton of people importing vehicles from the US to Canada). I tried back then and it was a no go.

 

Heard about this too, due the large price difference (about $3000). You may have to go deeper into the US.

Is Entune available in Canada?
