Anyone done the BHLM in other colors?

I'm going to do the BHLM, but I was considering using a dark gray color instead of Black. I was wondering if anyone else has done this. I know the 09/10 TRD models use a darker chrome on the headlights and the contrast on white isn't as dramatic as the black, which I kind of like.

 

i searched before i did mine and found that someone did theres white on a white tacoma, it was different but now i cant find the picture

 

Yeah the 09-10 (dont know about 11's) have the "smoked" lights on the TRD models. It looks good IMO

 

I recall someone doing theirs color matched to the body but I'm not 100% on that.

Either way, I was thinking about doing some of it color matched to the body similar to the vette or Ferrari style but with a portion of it flat black. I think if the right parts were done it would look quite nice.

 

I have found the color matched ones on here. There is a white with white lights and a speedway blue with blue, but I haven't found anyone painting any contrasting color other than black.

 

Just look at pictures of 09's? Isn't that the color your going for?

 

Sort of what I'm going for, but the 09/10 is like a dark gray chrome. I wasn't sure how dark grey in spray paint would compare.

I did mine in Speedway Blue.....

See I was thinking about doing mostly black with the trim ring around the main reflector in speedway blue. I think it would be a lot of taping work but would be worth it IMO.

 

I wanted to do gray, but couldn't find any gray fusion paint

 

It doesn't have to be Fusion paint.

I got color matched paint in spray cans on ebay. Using the Krylon Fusion just makes the prep easier with plastic parts. If you don't use Fusion, just prime with an adhesion promoter before you apply the color coat.

 

If I get more lights, I'll keep that in mind. Not going to re-do them now

One of these days, I'll be doing mine, along with the grill, mirrors, and chrome bumper, in my radiant red color.


And by one of these days, I mean very soon.... thankfully I got a shop right next to my work that I've got a "High School Buddy" discount through

 

I think red would look great!
