 hey guys i was at the dealer today looking at a 2012 tacoma. I noticed that it had a rubber or vinyl floor much like the ones found in the FJ. I have never noticed this on a tacoma before. Is this a new option for 2012? Also not all 2012 tacomas had this flooring. Others had carpeting. Is this a special package of some sort? If anyone has any info on what tacomas this floor comes in please let me know. thanks

I wish it would have been an option for my 2010. I hate carpet in trucks. I do a lot of hunting, fishing and scuba diving with my truck and carpet just gets dirty over time even with floor liners.

It's only available on 2012 trucks with TRD Off Road pkg., if I remember correctly.

Don't really care for it, because Weathertech floorliners give sufficient coverage, and have a proper drainage path.

Just bought a '12 Offroad this weekend. It's not an entirely rubber floor, but really nice rubber mats that snap down to the floor. I like 'm a lot!

Like KenKyns said tho, Weathertech is superior.

Kind of funny things change, "Back In the Day" the cheapest of trucks came with a rubber floor, the last one I had was a "93" ford F150, I have always liked the rubber floor, Just take the hose and spray it down. Now is it going to be an option??? It sure a heck shouldn't be an option, Doc

I agree, I got curious about the rubber floor, and could not find it as an option in the "Build your own_________". I even have the 2012 brochure in front of me, it only says the vinyl floor is "available" next to the picture, but doesn't say on which model.

I was going to get weathertechs, but my 2012 came with the all weather mats. They are very nice, cover the entire floor area, and hose off easily -- almost like they are teflon coated.

It may be dependent on region. When I put in a Montana zip code, for example, I see three TRD OR packages - basic, with DRL, and with rubber flooring.

P.S. When I put in 90210 as the zip code, Access Cab 4x4 is no longer available. That's pretty surprising.

Toyota's 'build' site differs from region to region, and only allows you to select options that are actually available at that current time in that region. So for instance, if there were no access cab 4x4's on dealer lots or on order in the whole of the southwest region (I'm guessing the region name) then it will not show it in the build page. I figured this out while trying to figure out what options I wanted on my truck.

Build your truck at the Truecar site for every possible option.

This is the problem and what I assumed was the reason that I was unable to build a DC Off Road with a 6-speed with a Colorado zip code, at least last time I tried the build section.

I was curious about the floor too, so I had a dealer look into it. This is what I got back from them on 10/25/11:

"Thanks for getting back to me. I've been looking all over to find the code I needed to see about the vinyl flooring and I finally found it. Currently, it appears that these are in extremely limited production. I've found less than 30 through out the entire nation and not all of them are even at dealers yet (some are still on order) and none coming to CO. From what I can see, you will have to have the TRD Offroad package in combination with it."

Sounds like there's just not that many out there right now. I'm probably going to have to have one ordered, but I'd really like to see it in person first.

I did notice that the Baja edition Tacoma has the rubber floor.

With hairy dogs and muddy/snowy boots, I definitely am interested in this flooring.

yeah! that was a great idea! even if the floor mats aren't as good as the weather tech's it doesn't matter cause the truck is stuffed with rubber :D

That's because you're in MY region, which is distributed by Southeast Toyota. There's Southeast Toyota, Gulf States Toyota, and the rest are all Toyota Motor Corp distributed.
