trying to decide which 3" lift to go with

Just bought my first truck (2010 tacoma access cab) and i am looking to give it a little lift. I do not do much off-roading and no towing. My job puts me in the truck and on the road about 6 hours a day so i am looking for a basic 3" lift that wont hurt the longevity of the truck too much.

I have been looking at the basic toytec 3" lift with the add-a-leaf in the rear, or the tuff country 3" lift. This is all new to me so i am open for suggestions.

Also, why does the tuff country come with the ubolts and the toytec does not.

I would do the 5100s at 1.75 and add some 265s. That way you will get a little lift with litlle to no loss in mpg or power.

But if you do decide to go ahead with a lift , I am very happy with my OME set up .

 

I did a procomp 3" suspension lift, Front struts, new springs, rear shocks, and add a leafs. with 285 70 17's on 17x9 wheels. Truck rides nice and smooth I was suprised.

 

Do you have any pictures of your truck. Do the tires rub anywhere?

 

I have a 09 dclb and I'm in a similar situation, just wanting a modest lift preferably under 3inch.
I have been considering the ome885 + (9000's or 5100's) or the eibach + bilstein5100's @ .85 setup. From what I understand it will get you around 2 - 2.5 in of lift and good ride quality... 265/70r17

We both have the same lift and from seeing the same threads 5x a month I know we both love it. OME all the way!

However, this post is to address the bigger tire suggestion. I understood that it was the larger tires that hurt the MPG and not the lift. If this is wrong, please explain how a 3" lift would effect it.

 

Revtek Suspension offers a 3" complete kit and they just released a 1.5" front only kit. Visit www.revtek.com. Toyota delaerships are putting these kits on at the dealerships.

 

I went to the revtek site and there Tacoma suspension system does not include shocks or coils. unless I am missing something it doesnt even give you an option to get a complete package.

Revtek part #426 is a 3" front 1.25" rear kit. This is the split spacer front set up that retains the stock suspension geometry. The kit includes front split spacers, longer studs, diff drop, rear blocks and u-bolts and rear brake line relocate. The #426A is the same kit but uses a add-a-leaf for the rear lift rather then the block.

 

Def don't get a spacer lift......worst thing you can do for ride quality. For on road you wont find anything better than stock. Upgraded suspension will stiffin things up as it's built to handle off road conditions. There's obviously a compromise but slower speed dampening will be increased as a result and that will make the on road ride stiffer. Personally, I like the firmer feel but def a difference. I've heard OME does have the best on road ride, however a high quality coilover cranked down to 1.5-2" will work too!

Edit - If you are 2wd look into spindles. They give you lift while keeping stock suspension so there's no change in comfort. Some new bilstein 5100s set at 0 lift with the spindles would be ideal. Other brands to look at are Icon, fox, king........those are the higher end coilovers and will ride pretty nice with the preload taken out or at least set to 1-2"!
