I respect your opinion but before you go running your mouth I think you should go back to the first post of this thread and re-arrange your thoughts. No one here said that anything WOULD happen....

And what does this have anything to do with a Tea Party? Is it because we believe in 2nd amendment rights? Is it because we don't trust that the government will come and swaddle us and tell us bedtime stories if SHTF? Is it because we store up food for our families instead of trusting that the local grocery store magically fills its shelves on a daily basis? I am willing to bet your grandparents had that understanding down pretty well because most of the older generation I know used to can their food and have at least a year supply at all times.

I am sorry that you are so naive to believe that you are invincible....God forbid anything ever happens to you, me, us, this country! At the end of the day it is like minded people such as this group that will have to care for people such as yourself.

Do you by chance read history? I suggest you do some research to find out why every generation before ours prepared like crazy and were self sustainable!!!

fun stuff coming soon! New battery, radiator and CV joints and axles. Added some Rancho RS5000 shocks.
I ALWAYS have a change of clothes in the truck, or an extra jacket or two in the winter, you never really know what would happen, and i used them plenty of times, not to mention the extra fluids for my truck. if you dont like the ideas of this then dont do it, but when something does happen and your not prepared for it (not saying the end of the world) then you cant get mad at anyone but yourself.

this is why i like to be prepared for survival in the woods. if something that serious happens, i'm not staying in the city, i'm getting out of dodge and finding a mountain somewhere to set up a nice little camp.

I remember Katrina well. I am from that part of the country and lived in NO once upon a time. But the folks left stranded weren't the ones driving Tacomas. They were mostly the poor folks with no way out. If you live in a hurricane zone you certainly need to have some stuff and a plan but there will always be some who can't or don't. And if you have a kit and plan you will more likely need to be helping people than shooting them.

As for the feds... thankfully the guys that dropped the ball there are long gone. Only problem is our dysfunctional Congress dropping the ball on the budget. Yes, FEMA is part of the evil govt. spending that will get cut in the coming sequester. So we may yet get to relive a Katrina like incompetence again in 2013 or beyond.

I have no issue with responsible emergency planning. I do have a problem with folks that have seen too many movies and spend more time fantasizing about blowing people away in an end of the world scenario than modding their Tacoma. Maybe some of them are the ones who either were too young and feel like they missed out on the Y2k adventure... or they are older and need a way to use the stuff they have left over from Y2k. Everyone needs a hobby but that is ridiculous.

You got that right!! I love it! If it were feasible I would say let's plan a camping trip for the whole group...we could all exchange ideas and learn from one another.

Heck if anything did happen at least we would have a starting point for our own community :rofl:

If those people had listened to the "government" they would not have been stranded!

It is not congress who has dropped the ball brother....it is a government who has been out of control for 20 years!! We didn't get in this mess over night and it sure as hell isn't going to be a damn joy ride to get out.

Maybe you are too young to recall a Clinton administration who started this "Equal Housing" nonsense so that less fortunate people could purchase a home. Dodd/Frank Bill? That is where this mess began and continued with Bush Jr and is even worse with this current ignorant administration who is driving the final nail into the coffin of this great country. The guys running the FED are the same guys who have been running it. There are political threads out there I am sure but it's not a good idea to start that topic here....this thread is not about politics.

I suggest everyone do some research of their own and see what is really going on in the world around us instead of watching the mainstream media who brainwashes everyone into believing everything is okay. Does anyone else see what is happening in Egypt, Iran, N Korea, China, Greece etc? Our "global economy" is about to go down the royal drain without a real miracle. That means everyone is going to have to tighten their belts and change their way of life. Inflation from all this spending in the states is going to cripple us and the only way to hold it off is by more spending. These are scary times if you really dig in and do some research....Jimmy Fallon is not an ideal news source!

NO ONE here is serious about shooting anyone!

Katrina was but one example. See:disasters, catastrophes, civil unrest, terrorism. (crown heights, rodney king, LA, 911, mumbai etc)

CCW fits into my plans, but I'd CCW regardless.

I don't dream of blowing away terrorists and looters and would be rapists murderers or thugs with my Glock 17 or a Kahr CW9 but I do dream of protecting my friends and family and getting home safe. Or helping out victims however I can. If you don't think something bad could happen where you're at, or close to, you're a fool.

BTW, my truck is more modded than yours, so what's your excuse?

Why are the people that call us crazy for planning only focused on the weapons that have been mentioned. this thread is about ALOT more than guns and killing people.

People see what they want to see. I am not a big fun of guns in general (even though I'm getting ready to go deer hunting for the first time in my life :D) but I appreciate preparedness, as long as it doesn't turn into paranoia. For the most part, this thread has been extremely informative, and gave me a lot of great ideas to implement in my every day life.

    Thank you guys!
