Go for an oil change, get 'suggested services'

Hey guys,

My 2000 Tacoma 4x4 (manual) has 131,000 miles on it now. I am the second owner, and have only had to replace the clutch and the leaf springs so far.

At my last oil change, as usual they recommended a few things, but this time more than usual. I know they go off Toyota's suggested service plan when you hit certain milages etc etc...so I am wondering if any of these are a huge priority?

They recommended:

• Front diff fluid change
• Rear diff fluid change
• Tranny fluid change
• Fuel filter

Anything I should jump on? Would changing the tranny fluid make shifting easier? It's not difficult now but I'm curious.

Edit: Guess I should mention, I'm not mechanically inclined and non of my friends seem to be either haha. I also live in the city and don't have access to a garage...so basically I'm a sucker and have to pay these jerks to do it.

 

Front, rear, and tranny are easy to do it yourself. I always thought the fuel filter never needed replacing.

I would definitely replace the filter too. I cant remember if it TTORA, 4x4wire or 4runners, but someone posted pics of their fuel filter cut open at 100k miles. It looked like brown mud-gas came out.

 

are those are a good idea, and easy enough to do yourself. The tranny and diff fluids are super easy to do yourself. The fuel filter is the pita...but isn't hard.

 

The diffs and tranny should all be done every 30k miles, so yes, whether you do them yourself or have it done, it is legit preventative maint.
