When to replace winch cable

    I'm relatively new to winching with my XRC8. I've done 2 pulls with it in addition to playing around with it once I got it. Recently when using it I noticed this kink in the cable, its about 60' in. Bad enough to warrant replacement? No cut strands, it just looks deformed.

    We use 5 ton cranes at work & have never replaced a cable for what you are looking at.....first sign of a fray/damaged strand, replace it.

    I'd agree. We use a hoist at work on the help...That kink would get the cable replaced on that- but that's because people hang off of our cable. That ought be fine for a while longer.
