I recommend you search. This has been covered many many times.

What are you looking for? Top end power, low end torque? That all matters when making a decision.

Depends on your budget and how much power you want.

But in the end unless you really want to get into it you will most likely end up with a TRD/URD supercharger. Both are great platforms for making good amounts of power.

TRD is known for it's insta-boost (almost) and URD is known for it's crazy top end power. Pick your demon.

I have the TRD and it was good but I added the URD under drive pulley and now the thing is a BEAST.

What are you trying to do with the truck? What do you want to spend. I don't recommend those remote mount turbos if thats what you were thinking about

Why won't the URD MKII or III fit on the '11? No significant changes were made to the engine or engine bay on that model. However, I know for a fact that Gadget mentioned, after looking at some pictures of the '12 engine bay, that some modification to the kit's components would be necessary to make it fit on the '12.

Don't be fooled by the "warranty" claim. First off, it is considered an aftermarket warranty, that gets rolled into the factory warranty. Depeding on how many miles you have on your truck, having Toyota install the s/c could be worth the warranty since it will be with the rest of the power train warranty. If you onlyhave a few miles left, say something that you will reach in less than a year, then it wouldn't be worth it due to the fact that if you install it yourself you will have a full one year warranty.

Some dealerships also don't feel like dealing with the warranty of those aftermarket parts though. Even though they sell them. Usually they don't know about the Magnuson Moss Act either and for that matter neither do most buyers.

So I have some questions for you now. Do you off-road frequently?

How much power do you see a goal? Depending on that will depend on how much extra money you will have to spend to get there.

Do you have supporting mods to supply the necessary fuel for the power you will soon have or want to reach? Fuel pump, injectors, possible fuel pressure regulator.

Depending on which s/c, or turbo for that matter, which ecu do you plan on using? I highly advise against the Toyota reflash, as it causes more headache and problems than not.

Depending on the ECU, is there a quality known shop that is close and can tune it?

If you want the most power (torque and hp, which is also easily adjustable forward or back), do you have the time to leave you vehicle at a quality shop for them to build a kit?

it will "fit" on the 2011, just doesnt mate with the ECU well IIRC

URD is aggressively working to solve this little problem.

URD just solved the issue with the X-1 not being available any more and designed and manufactured a whole new BETTER EMS. Now we are going to make it work on the 09 and later trucks!!

It is the UNFAIR ADVANTAGE called the UCON Flex.

Map-Ecu, check, as long as there isn't a reflash done before it. Then it can be hit and miss. The reflash sometimes rejects the adjustments to fueling made by the Map-Ecu3 on the 09+ models.

AEM has been making extension harnesses for the 05-08 models for quite some time. Recently Dezod wired into that harness, so that one of their nicer EMS units will be plug in play. That is on X-roller's Tacoma, which is an 05-08.

URD has that same extension harness.

ProEFI has a wired up plug n play harness as well for the same 05-08 models. I am using that on my truck with the Pro128 EMS. For the 09+ they have a flying lead harness. Has to be wired in.

URD is working on making plug n play connectors for the 09+ models, as Gadget mentioned. Not the easiest thing to do. Seems to be a very guarded plug.

Powerfab here in Houston has done two turbos on 05+ Tacomas. They are thinking about making a kit as well. Just waiting to see the EMS options and chose the best one.

The URD kit will work, you just need something that you can wire in yourself, or wait a little longer for URD to come out with the plug n play connectors....

At the time that I had said that, it was still just "in the works". It is a done deal now though. :)

There is only one other company that has the plugs right now. Their EMS is lacking in its ability.

Once URD has their plugs, that will be the best system that plug in play, by far. :D

Wow I cant believe it cost $2500 out the door, amazing...but no tune yet, so there is another $$$ but still the price of the hardparts and labor is very competitive..

I would like to see some more and close up pics of the turbine inlet tubing. Something looks a bit off in the picture.
