Painting new sliders

I ordered new AP sliders. I'd like to know what everyone is painting them with. Give me the rundown on the best process and products to give them a nice flat black finish. I considered powdercoat but I think a good paint job will suffice and then I can easily touch up down the road. So what is everyone doing? Please I'm not looking for reviews on them. I researched and think they will suit me well. Oh they have free shipping now too. Thanks in advance.

 

ive seen a lot of people use the bedliner that comes in a can. i think that would hold up best and look real good too.

 

I just painted mine a few weeks ago.

I used Rustoleum primer and flat black.

-make sure you get the fab/shipping grime off

-The primer was very helpful in smoothing out some of the imperfections, and was well worth the time.

-make sure the paint and the sliders are at the proper temperature. I did mine during a cold spell and had them in my apartment warming up for a while prior to painting; I did noticed a difference in the paint dry time being very long when I put a few coats on after they got too cold.

-dont use red or brown primer, it makes it look like rust when you scratch the black. I would try and find the grey primer.

-it was much easier to hang them chest high to paint than it was to deal with saw horses.

 

Thanks - I like the hanging idea. Hopefully get some warmish weather when I'm ready. Last time I was looking for paint a nice flat black finish was hard to find, most were gloss (dont want that). Maybe matte black? I also like the bed coat stuff I'd have to see it? any more Oh and "Happy Thanksgiving" everyone
