I have been lurking here to aid my purchase decision. I will most likely pull the trigger this weekend (whit dbl cab TRD 4x4). Lately there has been a lot of talk of wheel bearing, driver side differential, and I also heard about a common ring and pinion failure. Are these very common issues? Is there an aftermarket solution? Are there some proactive preventative measures I can take? I'm old fat and tired, I don't want to do a lot of unnecessary wrenching.

Yeah, Warranty. I JUST got my truck back yesterday after two weeks when my ring and pinion failed. If something happened take it STRAIGHT to toyota. Toyota voided my drivetrain warranty because i got it taken apart at four wheel parts to see what happened. $3,100 out of my pocket.
