Dynamat Questions

Aloha all,

I have only ever used name brand Xtreme Dynamat. Question is this, has anyone had any exp with other brands?

2nd Question is , How much is needed to do all of the doors and the whole back of the truck?

I want to buy it by the roll, but not sure how much is needed. I guess the kits come in 36 SF, that doesn't seem like alot....

I just looked at ebay, they have some knock-offs, but dont really know what the difference is vs name brand.....

Any info would be great!

 

I would stick to one of three brands. Second Skin Audio, Sound Deander Showdown, or RAAMAT.

 

I know Dynomat is hard to work with, are any of these brands easy to work with ?

 

I think Second Skin and RAAMAT comes in larger sheets so you'll likely need to cut it. But Sound Deadener Showdown comes in tiles roughly 6x9 I think. They're easier to work with in my opinion. You'll end up cutting some of them regardless but it does take some of the work out.

 

Whatever product you choose, shop around, including Amazon. I bought the biggest boxes of Dynamat thru Amazon for 1/3 what audio stores wanted to charge.

 

I have only used one of the products, so my experience is limited, but I was very happy with Second Skin. It cut pretty easily with a utility knife.

I did like the looks of Sound Audio Showdown's products, but there is only so many times I can email someone trying to place an order.

Amazon may be the way to go, but I avoided dynamat because it truly seemed over priced everywhere i looked.


Overall it was a pretty fun project and great to do myself so I could not only get to know my truck better, but know that it was done right and with the proper amount of material. I really dont remember how much it took me to do my front doors, I went overboard.
