    when i click into 4WD and make a sharp slow turn, it sounds all clunky and chunky. is that normal?

    Yes...4WD is not made for sharp turning/tight maneuvering or driving on pavement/normal traction situations. The drivelines bind at the transfer case because of the need for different wheels speeds in a cornering situation.

    Are you on dirt or pavement when it does that? DO NOT ENGAGE 4wd on pavement.

    really? i thought you could go from 2wd to 4wd as long as you weren't going over 60 on any road surface?!?

    We have "part-time" 4wd. You could engage 4wd on pavement (i wouldn't recommend doing it though) but the minute you make a sharp turn your going to bind things up and do possible damage. The wheels need slippage. Read the links below...
