The truck is already on the way down, I can't go get it.
I'm not upset anymore, I've accepted it.
The dealership is making who knows how much money off me already, I don't think it's asking too much for them to tint two windows.

I've spoken with the dealer and they're seeing what they can do. Probably nothing but it was worth a shot, right?

They can do it. This "See what we can do" thing is just a sham to make you think they are trying to work with you. They tell you this, then they go and have a break, or try and sell another vehicle....whatever. They dont give you a second thought. Tell them to tint your widows for the hassle, or you'll cancel the order. Period. You havent received the truck, and until you take possesion, the ball is in your court.

So with how much you guys love your trucks, even you suggest I should draw a line and refuse to budge?

"Tint my windows or I walk"
What the heck would they say? I think I'll do it just to see their faces.

They probably know by your actions, you would be bluffing.
If the truck is on it's way,you now have the advantage.

I have said it before on this forum and I will say it again. Car salesmen by and large are liars and thieves. They will do what it takes to make a sale and deal with the fallout later. Sure there are good ones that do right by you, but most are not.

I take great pride in breaking these idiots down to making $50 on each car I buy. In today's economy, they need you to buy. Their job depends on it. Take the power that never should have left you.

Four rules for buying a care from a dealer:

    1. Never go to a dealership NEEDING to buy a vehicle. They will smell you like a shark smells blood.

    2. Never sign anything until you are 100% satisfied. They always want $100 to hold it or something similar. That is not for you, it is for them. Tell them to sell it if they can, you can find another one. Never fall in love with a vehicle.

    3. Always, always always take the vehicle to a mechanic, unless you are one yourself. Of the last 10 cars I have considered purchasing, 6 were turned away by my mechanic. I have teenage boys, so this saved me a ton of cash.

    4. Do your research and be prepared going in. Look on the internet for other prices and deals all over the country. See what they offer for financing if necessary. Work up a deal that you will accept and if they are able to meet it, great. You just saved hours of these morons going back and forth to the head thief.

I hope this helps some of you young guys. I have made this a sport and I really love it.

But that is the thing, I'm not bluffing. You guys have me convinced that they need me.
If they won't do something so simple, then clearly they don't care about making me a happy customer.. If I'm not a happy customer.. I don't want to be a customer at all.

some of this, a little of that

It is really simple. Do you absolutely need this truck, If yes then take it and enjoy it. IF you do not then go in there with a mindset that if they won't tinit your windows that you will walk. If you can honestly say you will walk away if they won't tint your windows then go for it. Otherwise being a pain in the ass for a dealer you may need work from in the future can backfire on you. If you can wait it out you will probably get your way since dealers are hurting for sales. Remember you have nothing holding you to that truck until the financing finalised. Let us know how it goes and good luck to you.

I'd let them set on the truck for a few days, don't return any calls. If you play it right, I bet you can get $500 bucks off, or something tangible. It's a buyer's market, and now they have one more unit on the lot, and have payed to get it down. If you didn't put down a deposit, I say f with them. That "I'll see what I can do" is crap. They all have dealer cash to play around with, make them use it.

When I ordered my truck, they had to bring it from another dealership approx 100mi away. I balked at this too, not for the mileage, but concerned over who was going to drive it ("like he stole it"). they asked if I wanted to take the trip. my saleman's father did the deed.

there is a clause that says that you can back out of the deal before you take delivery. this clause lasts up to 72 hrs after the paperwork is signed. until you drive the vehicle off the lot you can back out.

They tinted the windows, and put a clear bra (part of the original deal) on it today. I'll be picking it up sometime tomorrow.
I know in some of your eyes this wasn't worth making a big deal about, but look, I got my windows tinted for free :)
That was with one phone call, I never had to argue with them, I wonder what else I could have got, lol.:p

The funny part is- if I would have had my truck on time I'd probably have 500 miles on it by now.

I feel the same way. Mine had 240 miles on it when I got it because they had to bring it from up in NC. So now my warranty is 36,240. No big deal.

See if they'll tint the windows. If not, I don't see it as a deal breaker.

Best of luck with your new truck.

I bought a 09 Tacoma in Oct o8. Had new non-oem wheels and snow tires prepared but not installed. I prefer to do my own things. Everything vibrated when I installed them a month later, yes I use a professional grade torque wrench. Went back to Canadian Tire and they prooved the wheels defective. I got my $800 back. However the technician did have to drive my "new truck". His answer "shit happens"....yeh to my new truck with a stranger.....driving it......I did buy from Toyota in the end
I would be very mad if I were you.......I would demand to go and get the truck my self.....there still is a break-in period on these trucks...at least the Tacomas for Canada......And by the way ....I am told the California people built this truck and I say they did a damn good job....So Be mad and go get your truck yourself and never have to doubt how someone drove it the first 150 miles....bryanc in Ottawa

Be glad. They Told me I'd have to wait 3-4 weeks, but ended up having to wait 11 weeks. They upgraded my free running boards, to a free set of side step bars without me asking though. so I can't complain. But I WOULD I'd be pissed about the extra 150 miles. They should be able to put it on a flat bed or something.
