the more you spend the easier it gets.

better question is how much boost are you aiming for? minimal 3-7lbs?

im assuming after header turbo, the cost will include alot of fab, or alot for a pre fabbed kit.

ETA: And now it's moved out of the 2nd gen section, so no one will get the point. :)

Better question? When talking forced induction you don't suggest The minimum psi or even a guesstimate. Let his tuner make the suggestions, after all he is the one with his tuning reputation on the line. Let the tuner look for knock, AFR's, FP and decide on psi.

OP. It isn't hard to turbo your tacoma but it's not an afternoon project.

I've thought about doing this too. But dont really want to spend the money, so I live with the mediocre performance of my stock 4 banger.

Oh, and why is this in 2nd gen.

Blacked out badges, weathertechs, painted grill, cut tailpipe, removed mud flaps, black head lights, red calipers, tinted tails, front and rear bilsteins are here along with fatbobs spacer and aal awaiting install, also a set of 16 inch pro comps are here and 265/75/16 dynapros
Best question, does anyone have a set up that can chime in with specs. Id like to do it a loooong way from now if its worth the chunk of change. What can you expect to change with mpg, torque, and h.p. I honestly wished they offerd a 4cyl turbo diesel id be all over that like white on rice

I've always dreamed of turbo'ing my taco....but the more I think about it, the less I want to. Lots and lots of money...its not just bolting on the turbo and going...lots of fabrication and tuning, and turbo kits are hella expensive. Plus once you are boosted you need to upgrade your fuel management to get any real power, and that is more $$$...plus if your motor has a decent amount of mileage you may want to rebuild it before you turbo.

I just remember its a truck, and its not supposed to be fast. My slow 4 banger doesn't bother me.

Sure, but if you are going to spend thousands to turbo your truck, why not do a top end rebuild on the motor??
