I personally think that shoot-to-kill only applies when protecting your own life or the life of another.

Stealing my stuff isn't worth killing someone over... thats why I have insurance.

fun stuff coming soon! New battery, radiator and CV joints and axles. Added some Rancho RS5000 shocks.
if you dont shoot to kill then they will get you for premeditated murder or something similar. but you shouldnt get penalized for a good shot,if your going to have a gun you should know how to use it and atleast have decent aim, if not its kinda pointless.

one thing i dont understand is when people that break in and get shot countersue and win...because they got shot...if they hadnt have broken in they wouldnt have gotten shot, its a risk they take with doing crap they arent supposed to.

but kudos for your buddy, gotta protect your livelyhood too. i had my own business you can bet your rear end theres a shot gun lurking around there somewhere.

true... i think the leg shot fit the circumstances... its just unfortunate that it even came to that and now the shooter will more than likely face litigation.

A lot depends upon WHERE the gunshot wound is. If it's in the front, you can always say that it was because you were protecting yourself and he was coming toward you. If it's in the the back, then it shows the person was retreating and at that point there is no reason for self defense.

    SO....

If you want to shoot a bad guy, make sure you hella run past him first, then turn around and shoot him in the front.

    I'm kidding. Dont do that.

GA has protection from civil suits if it was a legal suit....

Ok i got a little more info on this situation....there were more than 3 perps(8 or 9 in total) only 3 made it inside because after the glass was busted they had to duck down under the push bar on the door. the first 2 were lucky that they didnt get hit in the head all three were squatting and they narrowly missed there heads by about 3-4 my buddy said. the 3 guy was in the process of coming in the door when he was hit in the shin(not the ankle) and broke both bones there. The criminals win an award for being stupid because they locked the keys in their getaway car. then called the one boy who got shot stepfather and told him the car was broke down.

8 shots were fired in total out of a 10+1?? so carry an extra mag you never know when you might be over run by more people than you have ammo for.....

i dont fault him being in a dark room with multiple perps shooting from around the door opening in the rear room...

And assuming low light situation, the first 10mm shot probably blinded him a bit too.

Flash mob- they'd have probably robbed him blind had they not met resistance. Glad it worked out OK for him, hopefully the goblins don't try to retaliate.

I agree with this. Also a sub-compact 10mm with personal protection ammo isn't exactly the most recoil friendly shooter out there. That guy is lucky it's in his foot/ankle because he would be more then likely gone if it that bullet hit anywhere near his torso.

glad your friend is ok, OP,.. if your latest update is correct and there were several perps gaining entry, that would obviously had been a very dangerous situation for your friend.. good thing he was prepared, and reacted to thwart multiple threats!

i'll also echo a previous poster's recommendation - carry one (or more) spared loaded mags, ...you never know..., ...and a mag damaged or improperly loaded, can cause a malfuntion at the worst time!

Why is the assumption that a 10mm to the chest means death and dismemberment?
*not trying to get into a caliber war but seriously....*
