Negative, With CPR they keep changing their damn minds, everytime I've been taught it its different.. Currently the Canadian standard is 30 Compressions 2 " deep at the pace of aproximately 100Beats per minutes, then 2 short breaths, just enough to raise the chest

 

Do you have different levels of CPR? Down here we have the Heartsaver - which is for lay people, that is compressions only. Healthcare provider - For us in FIRE/EMS and RN's and such which gives breaths.

 

I don't know about up there, but the AHA changes stuff here all the time too. Just so they can make money haha Actually..... there was logic behind some of the changes.

Yes, we have First Aid Class A,B &C. Class C is the highest, full course with AED's and CPR and infant and child care too

So do you have to take Class C because you are a first responder?

LOL! I've used that too for students. I also used to roller skate to that song.

And yup, I'm considered first response, when shit around here blows up (every couple months) Operations always beats EMS to the scene because we're closer. Actually usually we're the ones calling ems to come help when theres a casualty.

Which is the other f*cked up thing, they just changed the terminology, now a downed person is considered a "Casualty" not a "Victim". The teacher reassured me this new change is being taught to everyone but I know for a fact that if I say casualty over the radio/phone people are going to think I'm talking about a dead guy. Not happy about that change.

 

Interesting about your changes. I'm gonna have to look at yours and compare it to ours. FYI.. Looked at St. John's Ambulance, Ft McMurray - no job opening. I guess I would have to get a Canadian instructor license.

You gonna have off??? One minor thing that sucks is her "friend" lives in Manitoba. I actually found someone to cover me on Jan 1st. I told her she needs to make up her mind quick cos we need to get plane tickets.

They were the smart ones. Nice thing here is we can swap with people and not have to use vacation time.
