How happy are you with that tiregate?

I have been researching them for the past couple months, and I think I want to get me hands on one whenever I need new tires.

Is it pretty easy to change it from sitting inside to sitting outside the bed?

Anything I should be aware of when buying?

 

i'm pleased with it so far. my only complaint is i wish they used a latch system instead of the pins, but its no biggie. as far as changing it from inside to outside the bed, you would first have to drop the spare off, then it's a matter of taking out two bolts, flipping it around, and putting them back in. hardest part would be dropping the spare off.

 

Sounds pretty easy to me.

Is there any flexing in the structure when you drive?

 

no. over large bumps you get a small shake but its hardly noticable. it does have a slight drop with you swing it open but thats just due to the bushings it rides on.

 

Still sounds good.

All of that is to be expected.

Well, if you end up wanting you sell yours in the next year or two, then I would put a bid in.

 

A 6 speed DC TRD Sport!? Thats almost unheard of

thanks! yea i looked around a bit and happened apon a dealership that had the exact truck i was looking for. this was after other dealerships telling me they would have to order to get the configuration i wanted. needless to say i was all over it.

 

Man your truck is SOOOOOOO BADASS!!!!! I would love to be able to do most of those mods you've done, especially the F&R ARBs, Fox CO's, Viair setup, tiregate and that badass rear bumper! Damn man, you really have some time into this truck. It shows, and it has definitaley been worth it IMO!

Props man! It's not too often that you get to see SWB's like this. It looks great! Motivation for sure.
I'm just curious on why you didn't want to fab a bracket for the outer 510s so you could keep the rockguards on them too? I think it would look sick with both of them having the guards. Also, do you have any pics of the brackets for the inner 510s?

 

x2 on that photo... I'm thinking about another pair for the middle, just not sure what's involved in making the bracket.

 

thanks! as for the rock guards, they are nice however i have found one downfall to them. it makes it really hard to get the lens of the lamp clean. the guards arnt very hard to pop off the light however if the light was recessed a little bit more to allow the guard to fit it would be impossible to remove with the light still mounted to clean. just a thought.

 

yea the notches are there to provide a good place to jack from. they prevent the hi lift from kicking out to the side on the bumper. they work really well. they also provide a good spot for the hi lift to grab should you need to jack when the truck is off camber, other wise you would only have the bottom of the bumper to jack off which is plenty strong but dosnt provide anywhere for the jack to grab when its not level.

 

Wow, I hadn't even noticed that... Yet another reason to love that bumper!

well i got my exhaust redone today. no more low hanging crossover pipe. ran it back behind the lefty and across, also changed out the 55 gallon drum of a muffler for a flowmaster 50 series... i'll snap some pics tomm.

thanks! as far as the first bumper, as far as i know the guy isnt building them anymore, he had some major fitment issues with them. however i have started building my own bumpers and should soon have a direct bolt on replacement. i'm looking to make something a little more stream lined than my first bumper. the original one was strong but way to bulky. where in VA are you located?
