How to fix bumper.

So i was driving and getting ready to make a right turn at a red light behind a civic, and they take off so i look left to see if its clear so i can go.But no the civic decides to slam on their breaks after committing to go and i didnt see it so i rear ended them a little. The damage was minimum on my truck but kinda messed up their back end. My bumper prob came off about a centimeter and is not inline with the rest of the body anymore. I tried to push it back up but nothing snapped back in place. So can anyone tell me how to fix this? I'd rather not bring it into a dealership..

 

mines like that after i took it off and put it back on a few times. i just live with it. if u dont like it, just take it off and put it back on, haha, making sure all the screws n bolts are tight.

 

hmm but how do i get under it and take it off and put it back on again. are u sure nothing broken?

since it was pushed back..maybe try tugging it forward. Or try pushing the corner of the bumper toward the driver side. hope this helps.

 

Try loosening everything up and then aligning it.

 

ya i tried pushing and even putting a jack up there and pushing it together.

it wont stay.

but it will move back with a lot of force.

any one know the best way?

 

hhmm...well, from the pics it doesn't look too bad, but if shoving it around didn't do any, I probably would just take it off and have a look. There's not much hardware that holds the bumper anyway.

 

I'd say the mounts are just twisted or turned, find the bumper mounts, loosen them off, align and tighten.

 

does anyone know the best way to take off a bumper?

i dont see anyway i could except from underneath and inside

I didn't mess with the protective tape, but I think they mean just some plain old masking tape. Just something to protect it all from any scratches while you remove it. I was just careful and everything worked out...

 

Also, it'll make more sense as you start working on it and seeing the related parts...

My first impression was that maybe some of the little clips on the inside of the bumper (there are a bunch of them!) might have come lose or broke, but it looks like you could probably just take it off and put it back.

 

hmm yea i saw alot of clips on the instructions.

i could prob just pull a frankenstein but id rather do it right.
