I have to put toyota with the rest of the automakers now.

I drive alot of different vehicles due to work and family and hear about problems for this that and whatever. I obviously know all vehicles will break at some point or wear out but this truck has just as many sore points as all other vehicles I have previously owned.

After having my tacoma for a bit now it is them same plastic snap together vehicle as all other with its share of problems due to skimping on materials or poor engineering.

I feel that a good bit of the board members knock the american trucks but they are just the same in most points. Also the tacoma generally is not put through the same paces as most 1/2 ton trucks which most are commonly referring to.

If you are wondering why I am writing this, I am mainly just ranting on the cost of the truck and the numerous concerns that keep popping up. A few of my problems fall under the TSB and some do not but I am sure toyota is aware.

Maybe I am just getting older, I would rather have a vehicle with just the plain essentials and take out some of the extras and put the money it costs me to quality parts.

did you think toyota trucks were some revolutionary space mobile?

i like certain things on certain trucks, and dislike other things on others. i bought a tacoma because i hate it the least. i work one every manufacturer being a mechanic at a private shop. trucks are trucks. some are slightly less poorly designed.

Not calling you a liar but I've owned 3 tacos, 2 of which were over 200k miles. I've also owned an 08 z71, an 08 f150 fx4, and 2 ford rangers. The f150 and z71 had a total of 50k miles COMBINED and both of them messed up on me numerous times and both went to arbitration (buy back program). The rangers worked good and lasted a long time but couldn't tow, that's where I got my 2nd taco. All of my vehicles are never skimped out on the maintenance just I case you were wondering.

I bought my truck since the colorado is a joke interior wise and the ranger is too small.

I personally will not own a chrysler product so no dakota.

A fullsize quadcab will not fit in my garage due to my tools so the tacoma fit the bill. It is my second toyota I have owned.

I figured I would get defensive posts back just stating the obvious that their quality has declined with the rest of the automakers out there. Maybe not as much as some brands. It is a joke what is being let out on the market by all the makers.

I know maint is key to any vehicle and have no problem performing that task it is all the other plastic crap and poor design that gets me.

Its common knowledge, no one makes cars the way they used to. They all put plastic crap on them...its the way to make them look good. Plastic is never high quality....and no one makes a truck that doesn't have copious amounts of that shit on it. Deal or don't...

you know this is a tacoma enthusiast site right? not lookin too good for you, i mean we all have problems with our trucks, but majority of it is user error, or shops are dumb, but for you to go complaining about the truck as a whole isnt good... just my .02 not trying to be an asshole or anything

I know. Just seeing who is honest or maybe I am just the unlucky one to have the problems. I am still happy with the truck it preforms that task but I do not see it being leaps and bounds better than any other vehicle I have owned previous.

No need to circle the wagons I understand you all like your truck just wish toyota would address the problems not at our expense.

I'll come out and say that I didn't get my truck for any other reason then I was in the market for a 4x4 small truck with good mechanical quality and space. This Tacoma showed up, I bought it. I'm not attached to it at all and if push comes to shove, i'd get rid of it if needed. Would still stay with a foreign vehicle though...unless its an SRT8 charger

This is definitely true, but I still think the 2005+ Tacoma is a very reliable vehicle, especially when you compare them to the rest of the "mid sized" truck category. My dad recently bought a 2011 ranger 5 speed V6 4x4. I drove it while visiting him, the truck only had 3K on it and did not feel like a very quality pickup on or off road. My truck with 90K felt way tighter, smoother, and overall just drives better. Colorado's are almost worse, my buddy has lots of issues with his and it has about 50K. My Tacoma has had ZERO problems, minus the overhead compass quick fix.

Also the resale values on the Tacoma blow all others away when its time to move on.

Hence why I have purchased my 05+...for the mechanical quality. And the resale value...I can sell it right now and make more then I owe and I've had it over a year! Its awesome! lol

EDIT: Btw, where in wyo are you at?

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Of all the midsize/compact pickups, it does not get much better than a Tacoma, be thankful for what you have. Until the Tacoma, the newest vehicle I had owned was a 1980, so it was like stepping up to a luxury car to me, I mean this truck is NICE! lol
