I swear to god I get the worst colds. I've been sick for a week. My colds are all the same: Craploads of snot and stopped up head for 3-4 days,as in using up boxes and boxes of Kleenex. It seems impossible that I can produce that much snot. then followed by at least a week or more of coughing, hacking away until my lungs almost come out. That drives my wife nuts snce it keeps her awake. so I sometimes sleep in the other room till its done its thing.

I've tried everything and buy the absolute most potent cough medicine you can get. Doesn't make a bit of difference. I even do some of the old school remedies, like drinking whiskey, which helps a little because it just makes me drunk and sleep. Even got one of those "Netty Pots", which are these ceramic teapot things from India that you use to pour warm salt water through your nose. That helps a little, but just temporarily.

Anyone have some remedies that works for them? As long as it doesn't kill me I'm just about ready to try anything.

it may not sound too pleasant, but i mix some hot sauce(i always use frasnks red hot)vinegar(just a little of it) and some tomato juice.........................and drink it slowly. usually does pretty good for me, and also.....................get some rock and rye from the liquor store........take about 3 shots and drink it.......wear long shirt/pants to bed, and cover up......you'll sweat the cold out fairly easily.

That's a good idea. I've got a gallon of generic hot sauce at the house. Thanks!

I got food poisoning a week ago. I had some wicked projectile vomit. I think I actually scrubbed some of the toilet bowl scum off the force of the puke was so great.

I go with the Nyquil at night and Dayquil in the day time. Three days of that and I usually still feel like shit before bed and in the morning but, gets me thru the day with only small symptoms.

Netty pot is good to clear the sinus even if its just for a short time. Gatorade or orange juice is good for hydration and chicken or tomato soup is also good for just for the hell of it. Gargle salt water solution for sore throat but in general your body needs to fight off this by itself. That's what your body defenses have been programed for by evolution. Keep alcohol intake to a minimum but a little swig to help sleep is a good thing.
