Well I just go finished installing my double din "Valor" dvd unit with backup camera today. The unit was $199 and the install kit plus the back up camera costed about $50 all with free shipping!

Now as far as the unit is concerned, I am quit please with it as the price was very, VERY reasonable. It has built in blue tooth that works perfectly and can steam music from my I-phone 4 from both my library as well as Pandora.

Dvd's load up real quick, the picture is very clear (except in the pics I've posted here using my cell phone camera) and its a not bad looking unit. The only gripe I have about this unit is that fact that I am used to having built in crossover adjustments which this unit does not have.

Other than that though, it's great! I used the Scoscche install unit and it fit quite well. The color seems a little bit off, but over-all, it does it's job well with no rattles and a stock look.

Here are some pics, please keep in mind that i was using my camera phone and it was already getting dark so the picture quality isn't great:

Right now I have the head unit hooked up to my stock speakers. Not the best sound but better than stock. In a little time I'll round out the install with some decent subs and amps!

Those things are only $200 now? Jesus I remember when double dins were multi-thousand dollar headunits.

Is the backup camera a third party unit? Sounds like it is. If so, where does it mount?

    Thanks for the input guys!

Yea, the backup camera was just a cheapo one I bought from Amazon. It has a very wide veiwing pattern but night viewing leaves alot to be desired!

It is mounted in my trailer hitch for now. I cut a hole in the hitch cap and mounted to camera in there. I have it connected to the toggle switch shown in one of the pictures above because I want to be able to control when I have the camera on.

I plan on getting a much better one down the road when I order my subs, speakers and amps. But this is just fine for now!

Well I was originally going to buy it from Crutchfield, they had it for $299 I think with free install gear. But then I decided to see if Amazon had it and it was only $199 there.

    Thanks!

    Just bought it!
Looks awesome! I'd love a backup camera. How was the wiring? Did you have to get into wiring diagrams and splicing things, or does it just come with all the plugs you need to swap it? What about the camera? I would definitely consider something like this if the wiring wasn't over my head.

Does it come with the hookup for an aux input, or is bluetooth your only choice if you use your ipod/pandora?

    Thank you!

AS far as the wiring is concerned, for the head unit, I also bought the install kit from Amazon, 2 total. The first install kit replaces the original stereo face and hold the new head unit in place and the second kit is for the wiring which is very clearly marked so you wont make any mistakes. it plugs directly into the stock plugs for the original deck and you will then splice the wires from the kit into the wires to the head unit.

The camera itself didn't come with very good instructionn, but its pretty easy to install. The camera have an RCA output that goes ino the rear of the deck (again, clearly marked on the deck), and you have a negative wire and a positive. And the head unit has another wire coming out of the rear. That wire coming out of the rear of the deck is supposed to tap into the positive wire for the revers lights and the positive wire for the camera can either tap into that same reverse light wire or and accessory wire that have juice once the key is turned on. You can ground the camera anywere under the bed and you just have to connect the rca fom the camera to the rca in the rear of the deck.

If you have a tow hitch on your truck then mounting the camera will be pretty easy using the existing cap that covers the hole on the toe hitch. Since its rubber, you can cut it or do anything you need to it and its a cheap replacement incase you dont like how it came out or want to change something later. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Does it let you use a 3.5mm audio jack for the auxiliary, or is it bluetooth only?

    Thank you!

Yes it has the 3.5 plug on the front of the unit, it takes up to a 32 gb sd card. It comes with a connection so you can connect a usb device and on the rear of the unit, there is a detachable input plug that allows you to connect rca inputs like for a game or something I'm guessing.

My future plan is to upgrade to the stock handle/camera so this would be very useful to me as well!!!

someone did, there was a thread here showing how to cut the stock harness on the camera and wire it back to a regular RCA. Then you can just plug it into any monitor.
