IDEA: BDF hood mounts for Rigid Industries dually or d2???

Hey guys I have been toying with the idea of making mounts for Rigid Industries Duallys or D2 lights that would mount to the hood hinges from the bottom and wrap around to hold duallys. Kind of like my jeep locations. These lights are amazing for the trails and would still have a great look that will not block your view!

GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK!!

 

I think you need someone else to help you come up with ideas.....

Gabe 1st off beat it lol!! You live like 10 min from me and still do not own a light bar or grille.

2nd You can use autocad and can design your own stuff, and i told you I can have it cut for you!!!

3rd I will be a tacoma owner again too, soon.... And still keep the Jeep because It ROCKS!!

 

Very soon Im still working it out!! And it will be another paper model because good ole GABE is too busy to show me the 3d part of autocad I can use solidworks 3d but i dont own the program!

 

Lets see some pics of your Jeep, I came from a 09 Wrangler Unlimited to a Tacoma.

 

I had that set up on my Jeep and even though it looked cool it was basically useless because the lights caused to much glare on the hood (blinded me more then sunlight).
If I had known about it before hand I would have saved the money for something else. Just my .02.

 

Trust me the d2 rigid leds are not useless there is hood hood glare that's a given and it may be worse on lighter colors but the amount of light they put out makes it all worth it. It might be worse on a Tacoma I'm not sure yet but we will find out soon enough

So why not mount these in front of the hood where there is NO hood glare?

 

Kinda what I was thinking...

In front of the hood for no glare or on the roof if you really need the lights to be up higher and protected from brush.

 

No glare, just light.



Not Rigid Industries but to much glare to even drive with.

 

I would love to make brackets for the 20" but not a ton of people want to pay $600-700 for a light bar, but the behind the grill brackets will work for that, im not sure how much light the grill would block with the rigids. the brackets I make for the jeeps minimize the glare here is a few quick pictures

 

You're right the glare is much less then what I had. I played around with mounting the 20" behind the lower grille and it blocked some of the flood (LED's) out. I like where it sit's on the Tacoma now but I do get concerned about theft when I park out in the middle of nowhere. You may be onto something.

 

Ya that would freak me out I would never want to leave my truck!!! I think the LEDs almost act like a projector and the ones on my jeep are flood D2

 

Definitely a cool idea, would be a good little way to add some light. I know someone (can't remember who) made an antenna mount in the same location as you're trying to mount the D2's.
