lift help

okay i was thinking after looking all around going with OME 881"s set on the 2" setting with the OME dakar 2.25" for the back and OME rear shocks. i was wondering if that would be a good set of and if anyone has any information to what i would need and what im looking at. it all is explained well in the Wheelers Off-Road site but was wanting more insight and pictures if anyone has any with these lifts and its all going on a 2001 regular cab I4

 

I don't understand your reference to "OME 881"s set on the 2" setting".

OME 881s are simple coil springs without any settings.

 

It's said that the old man emus the 881 type spring can adjust to 2 inches of lift

 

there is no adjustment on coils, they just give the lift they are made for.

According to , "Average lift from this coil set on an extra cab v6 Tacoma is 1.75-2"." The coils themselves are not adjustable but, depending on the specific vehicle on which they're installed, you'll get BETWEEN 1.75" and 2" of lift (from stock).

Note that some of us have seen more than 2" from these springs. (I ended up with about 2.5" of lift from mine.)

 

Oh okay I'm getting it now I'm from kentucky so ill use that in my defense ha but now we have that all sorted out do you think that would be a good set up for a 01 regular cab 4 banger?

 

Yea if you have a 4 cyl then you defininatly see a bit more lift then 2'' i think from 881s.

Are you planning on getting any armor?? Bumper? Winch??

 

I might down the road just trying to get a good lift first but more then likly it'll be stock but with a lift for a while

 

well OME makes coils with a high spring rate to help cope with the extra weight or the bumper/winch or both. Those are the 883s. Give the same amount of lift as 881s but hold more weight.

 

I can always get new ones if I do I know that's double spending which is bad but in your opinion do you think the 881's are a good choice

 

OME is always a good choice.

 

on a 4 cylinder, even if you add a bumper, it will be fine. The 883 coils would be major overkill, and would be way too stiff.

 

I was thinking the 881 for the frount and the 2.25 dakars for the back I'm pretty sure that'll sit level

Oh and does anyone know if its like like 355 or something for one leaf pack or both?

 

355 should be for both packs.

 

Ok and let me get your opinion on this do you think it'd be better to buy the kit from Wheelers Off-Road or piece it together

 

I have the same truck as yours and just did the complete OME kit,,,except I carry heavy loads and also did the D6XL AAL...bit high in the rear

The kit seems like the way to go....make sure you get a diff drop kit from Toytech....you will need this as well as extended brake lines

 

Op...make sure you also get a B.PV. bracket....needed as well....See Tw member "JLee" for this..his thread is right here in the 1st gen section....looks like he has them on sale today for $20 shipped...very strong looking
