Hey folks, I just picked up a 2012 DCSB Offroad, and am seriously interested in putting the TRD supercharger under the hood. I'd loke to hear from anyone who has had one installed. Any problems? Did you have the dealer do the work, or an outside shop? Any other experiences, good or bad? Thanks much! :p

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
It will probably void your factory warranty so keep that in mind, I plan to do the URD supercharger on my 2.7 when the warrranty is up

the trd supercharger will not void your warranty!

when it is available, there shouldn't be much different from 2011 to 2012 i have one on my 2011. the dealer i go to said it will be available in a few months. since your truck is so new i would definitely have the dealer do the install it is less than 1000.00 and the charger carries a longer warranty on a new truck when installed by the dealer, it matches the power train warranty.

do i like it.. hell yeah, it makes this truck a lot better off the line. still not fast but 100% better than stock.

That sounds like a good price. I will definitely have the dealer do mine, because of the warrantee.

I wonder how bad my MPGs will be?? :D

I have been getting around 16.8 MPG with my SC, today I filled up and averaged 17.02 MPG. Not bad at all and is definitely more sensitive to the lead foot than when it was non-SC'd.

Really? Per TRD's website, the S/C will be covered by the balance of my 5 year/60K mile warrantee. Which is pretty damn good!

My understanding of it was that if Toyota installs the S/C you get warranty on it for the the remainder of the powertrain warranty (60,000miles). If you don't have a Powertrain Warranty it's 12,000miles either way. :notsure:

My opinion, If your gonna spend the cash for a TRD supercharger, why not just get real serious and go stage 3 URD and have a super fast truck. Besides the warranty part... Thats the grabber for most people.

425 horses at the wheels is not stage one and not stock that about what gadgets truck has (422.9) im not saying its not better i think it is but it gets really pricey really fast and they didn't have a kit available for my truck yet since i have a 2011 and apr apparently fell off the planet and inst making the x-1 any longer so it wasn't actually an option anyway right now the only way to use the urd kit is if you have a 2008 or older truck and already have an apr x-1 or something like it.

Actually for the S/C and install thats about a normal price. Best thing to do is negotiate with the dealership to include installation and stuff when you buy the truck.

Putting 425 HP to the rear wheels involves working on a lot of things that have nothing to do with making horsepower, especially if you have larger than stock tires. Transmission, transfer case, differentials, etc. will need more TLC.

Just remember that when making your decision.

Oh, the decision is made. TRD will be all "I" need for fun, and is way cheaper in the end... even if only because it leaves fewer avenues open to me! I don't want to spend huge amounts of dough for all the beefing-up that the drivetrain would need for 425 hp. Besides, I really do like the warrantee, since my truck is only a week old

I will admit, the thought of 425 horses makes me drool too! But I would always be in traffic school...

I would look into getting the 2.8" cheater pulley for the TRD. I put it on mine and it seriously woke it up. I have had no issues with it at all. It looks identical to the stock one. It even has the stock part number on it and says 3.0"

What does that do, increase boost by upping the blower rpm?
