I am getting the rear leaf TSB done on my truck tomorrow. The service manager tried giving me crap about it by saying it isn't listed for the 09's. I pointed out that my vin falls under the numbers listed at the top of the TSB and that the part numbers for the defective parts are the same as the part numbers on my shocks and springs. So he said he would see what he could do. He called me back this morning saying that Toyota approved the TSB on my truck and that the parts would be in tomorrow. So I have an appointment to go in and get it taken care of. WOO HOO!! If anyone else with an 09 wants to get this done and needs some advice let me know, it can be done.

Uhg! It is taking them longer than they thought it would so now I get to drive a purple Camry for a day. Makes me feel like leaving my man card at home.

Hey Man, I am from Halifax Nova Scotia and have just spent the last hour searching the web to find the TSB. I just purchased 09 4x2 Access cab Jan 30th. Do you have a link to any site that I can go to. The TSB are there but most sites want you to pay for them. Thanks

I have a 09 Double cab with the TRD package and i called my dealer today cause i have a few other problems with my truck . Have a no start condition in the morning and have the vibration from 15-30mph . Well my truck only has 3 springs and has the numbers in the TSB. So i asked them about it and they said the 09 is supposed to have 3 springs and not 4 . So im going to take the TSB with me and see what they say .

Anyone wanting more info on the TSB check here or use the search feature.

The key to getting the TSB done on the 09 is to:

    A) Check that the VDS (it is a small 5 digit snippet of your Vin#) matches one of the VDSs on the top of the TSB. Mine was TX62N

    B) Check the Parts Information section and verify that the part numbers listed under "Previous Part Numbers" match the part numbers on the parts that are installed on your truck.

    C) Contact either Toyota Cooperate, or your dealer and tell them that you are experiencing an unexpectedly rough ride and an occasional bottoming out when you were hauling some everyday mundane materials/house hold items in your truck and let them know the reason you bought the truck was because you were told that you would be able to haul these exact items.

C.2)If you called the dealer and the say "But my computer lists no TSB for the 09," reassure them that your VIN matches the TSB and the parts on your truck match the defective parts listed on the TSB. I have prior experience with TSBs having worked in both the automotive and aviation service industries so I know dates get updated all the time, but if the numbers match the TSB applies (remind him of this if you need to).

C.3)If the service adviser still hassles you ask him who "we" need to talk to in order to get this problem solved. This is a win-win situation for both of you if they get approval. You get your TSB he gets extra work for his shop and reimbursement from Toyoata. My guy had to talk to his boss and then they ended up calling Toyota and getting approval. You may end up having to call Toyota yourself. I you call Toyota and get approval yourself you might want to look for another shop because it is obvious the shop you were dealing with is too lazy or just unwilling to look out for their customers.

D)Remember at no point should you argue and get upset during this. Letting them know what is and isn't acceptable is the only thing that needs to be done. When something is acceptable let them know. When something is unacceptable let them know, and ask them what "we" need to do reach an acceptable conclusion. If they do not know how to reach an acceptable conclusion ask to speak to the person who can help you reach an acceptable conclusion.

E)Take your truck to the dealer and get your new suspension put on. Expect to be without your truck for at least a day, and expect to be without your man card too because you will probably be driving a purple Camry while they are working on your truck.

So I guess I just assumed that my 09 already had this issue corrected, but after reading this post I went out and looked at the part number and my vin# and they match the TSB! Thanks for the post, I will be getting it done as soon as possible. Do you think they will frown over the fact that I just rolled over th 1000 mile mark and I'm already complaining about a rough ride???

It is part of the 3yr 36000 mile warrantee. My truck is at 1350. I have had it for a month. I don't think they expect people to fully load their truck the first day they drive it off the lot. I just happened to have a friend that decided he wanted to move some furniture the second day I had my truck. If you had 35999 miles on your truck they would still have to do it.

Just read this and looked at my 2009 TRD DC. My vin# / vds is JU62N and my truck only has 3 leafs.

Am I supposed to have 4 leafs? I see that my VIN/VDS falls within, but don't know where to look for the part # on the rear springs?

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated
