IMHO it helps the camera at night. The only downside is the light is more focused, and it seems to put out light much farther than the stock bulbs. So the light isn't directly behind the truck anymore, there's this gap where there's not much light, then complete brightness. I took several pictures of the rear cam.

    check out the photos here.....http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/gr...oma-2nd-gen-reverse-lights-9.html#post4005379

My opinion, the brightness is great.. the THROW is great... but when it comes to flood, it could do a bit better.. thers a pretty big gap of darkness from the end of your truck to where the light actually shines to...

LJ, I hope you can get something that can throw and flood at the same time.. that would be the perfect reverse light.

on a side note, LJ I'll be PMing you sometime soon for some interior lights......

I just got my set of back up lights installed and they are awesome! I ended up having to back down a long drive way at night and these LED bulbs definitely throw light a lot better than the stock bulbs. I don't have a back up camera so I can't say how they affect that but just looking backwards or through the side view mirrors they are much brighter.

That's what I am worried about... I back my truck up and try to get as close as possible. So, at nighttime.. if there is a gap of darkness in the rearview in the section that is closest to the tailgate, that would suck IMO

i find that my brake lights kind of help fill that gap or flood that little dark area...

I will be removing these LEDs and going back to stock I think. I don't feel that the light output (beam pattern) is useable. They look very 'cool' but provide almost no visibility directly behind the truck.

If there was a way to get a more diffuse pattern and aim them down a little bit they would be much more useable.

Im gonna try to play with a small mirror or something reflective to try and deflect the light downards a bit.. but you are correct in regards to the lack of visibility directly behind the truck.. Looking through the rear camera, its almost (if not more) half the area that is unlit by the LEDs.

Have a set of D2s facing rearward on the bumper and rocklights (sitting on the living room floor at the moment). This does not address the issue of backing up in PUBLIC situations.

I don't want to need to flip on rock lights or my Duallies everytime I need to backup at night. I think putting them on in a busy packing lot or public road would be dangerous.

After trying them out, I think the Crees are great if you want to look cool backing up right until the point of hitting something. Just my .02. They do throw lots of light, just not where I want it.

Hopefully someone figures out something clever with a diffuser, however I don't want to bake/pull apart my taillights for the sake of running this bulb.

To each their own. I think they look good, and perform well. The only complaint I have is directly behind the vehicle, it doesn't light up very well. 99.99999% of the time this hasn't been a big deal to me. I showed in the pictures I took the gap I was talking about.

Well said. I have one of those backing systems that beep when I get close to something so it was more important to be to see further back. I can see the concern of putting light on the ground though. Hopefully Ant will come up with something clever.
