    not 'thread' its 'tread'. ;)
A retread tire is where they shave the outside of a worn out tire, and bond a new tread onto it.

Might be able to find some hankook dynapro atm's for somewhere around $500

You're not going to get ANYTHING new that isn't a piece of shit installed out the door for under $500. Tires are expensive

im in the same boat, i need new tires. when i started looking i was shocked at how much tires have gone up in price. ive been checking craigslist with no luck. has anybody here bought the retreads from treadwright? i looked through treadwrights site, they dont have any in stock size (265/65/17) for us, they do have 265/70/17 but im worried they will rub.

Don't skimp on tires, you will regret it in the long-run.

It's like buying a mattress, they are ridiculously expensive for a good one, but you use it for 8 hours every night so it better be comfortable.

Stock rims and stock height you should not have any issues clearing 265/70R17. Plenty of people have run them on stock trucks with no rubbing. I'm running that size now but slightly lifted.

I have the same size on my '01 PreRunner all stock with no rubbing. I think that 265/70/r17 was a factory upgrade option. You shouldn't have any trouble with them. I can take pics if you like.

265/70R17 will fit stock but there is no factory upgrade option to go to that size tire, at least not on the 2nd Gen. Stock is 265/65R17 on the TRD Sport. Maybe a dealer-installed option but none of them came from the factory like that.
