Just got done de-badging my new truck and was poking around under the hood and noticed that neither fenders or hood has a vin tag on them. Checked all 4 doors and none of those had a vin tag either? Anyone else notice this on their new Truck? Just think it's a little odd, thought Toyota always put those tags on

    Mine are everrryywhere.

I believed they're etched on the door windows, under the hood, tailgate and a bunch of other places

Maybe it's not really a Toyota. Maybe it's a Nissan.

It's an option... don't remember what it is, that puts the vin # on the windows, etc.

Thanks for the replies guys/gals! I've worked in the Auto industry for close to 18 years now and it just seemed odd to me. Seems like the replies in here that DO have them are prior to 09? I was just curious if anyone else noticed this. Thanks

My 04 Sienna has em too.

I think toyota calls it "PermaVin" because that's the sticker on the rear door window on our Sienna.

VIN #'s are often added at the dealership (so they can tack on more costs). Our old Previa had them put on at the dealership. However, my old Hondas (read theft magnets) had them from the factory.

The etching of the vin is something they do at the dealer as an added expense, however the vin stickers come from the factory and are applied to each panel such as hood, fenders and doors. Mine has the etching on the glass, but I'm refering to the stickers on the insdide jams of the doors/fenders and under hood.

Yeah truck for sure has those inside stickers, don't know about the sienna though.

It would be cool if Toyota would start etching VINs on to the cats from the factory on their trucks and SUVs too.

my 09 has them- when I first got the truck, I took off all the warning labels in the door jams as well as the vin tags- did not realize what they were until I opened the hood and saw them there too  manual states its illegal to remove them...:spy: oops!
