Yah did good Brent. I like how you used DOF to hide the tree in the background.

I take lame pictures with a lame point and shoot, but this Christmas I am getting a Canon T2i!! Then I'll start doing real stuff. I just found this thread so I am going to be busy looking through it. These pictures were taken on our backpacking trip this last summer by a friend of mine with his T2i(I think) They're a little tuned up. Enjoy.

I'll never tell!!!! All 3 were taken with in about a quarter mile of each other. It's a place called Castle Lake. It's on the backside of a canyon called Lamoille Canyon in the Ruby Mountains. About 30 miles south of Elko, NV. The best part, is the trailhead is about 20 minutes from my house. Just remember, Nevada is nothing but desolate, dusty, dumpy desert. Haha.

The best camera you have is the one in your hand.

I happen to think you did pretty well with the P&S. Of course you could tune it up in Photoshop but you have good composition which counts for a lot in my book.

Thanks. I just get frustrated, because I see awesome pictures. But I can never get them how I want. I think once I get my new camera, and learn how to use it, I'll be able to do a lot better.

The biggest thing is learning how to use the tool you have. Like for the P&S shots--some have notoriously slow shutter lag. If you know about how long that lag is, you can compensate. Same with other features.

Whether it's a P&S or dSLR, it takes practice.

Oh. A lot of stuff I've posted in this thread is P&S ;)

dunno if the L.A. peeps saw, but Samys is doing one of their no sales tax weekends, and prices are pretty good...

they are also offering a lot of gift cards with purchase...

oh, and with their in house credit card, it's 6 months no interest on items over $100 and 12 months no interest on $500 and more...

comes in real handy if making any large purchases...

i think tomorrow may be the last day though... guess i should have posted this yesterday...

    haha
