Yeah my JMR is set up this way it's great it's a little slow on 90's but it's nice to get just the right bend by watching the degree ring wile it's bending.

I built my bender for around $150 (without the die) including air/hydro ram from HF and there is no need to bolt it down

Ok... we'll see what happens. If I can make the kinker work, more power to me. If it fails miserably, I'll cuss and swear, put it on craigslist, and buy a nice bender.

On the subject of tube benders/notchers, I use the Protools units. The 105HD bender(converting to air over hydraulic soon) and their tube notcher. Both have served me well. Just had my 1st real issue with them, my notcher shaft bit the dust. The threads on the end are marred and I think now they're bent slightly too because I'm getting a wobble in the holesaws. Time for a new shaft, $26+shipping. no biggie.

Yeah I saw that a few days ago. Looks like another solid product from him. I'm kinda trying to wait to see what his 'discounted price for the 1st 20' is since he is no longer honoring the $50 shipped deal. :(
Hopefully he gets the 1st batch in soon, I cant limp this busted shaft much longer.

Was gonna use this as a base for a battery box. Gonna weld it a little later today.

Here is a quick screen shot of something I'm working on for the shop. It's my rendering of a Catch style Press Brake.

Quick rundown of the specs.. 37" window width, 1/2" thick main frame sandwiched between 2 pieces of 1/4" for a total of 1" thick main frame.
Arms and shackles will be 2 laminated pieces of 3/8" for a 3/4" thickness.

4"x 12" Hydraulic Cylinder pushing on swingarms with about 3:1 ratio. This will push down on shackles that will increase downward pressure as the shackles get close to swinging "over-center".

Hydraulic System will consist of a 5hp motor, 2500psi pump and log splitter valve.

When finished it should be running somewhere around 100tons of down force. plenty to bend 36" sheets of 1/4" plate. I should be able to bend 24" 3/8" plate with ease

This is just what i did yesterday I'm sure I'll be changing things as I go. I'm hoping to have the .dxf ready to cut in a month or so I will be cutting everything on my TorchMate but the main frame because it's too large I'll be farming that out.

wow nice! Just curious do you have a degree in engineering or did you just learn all this stuff from experience?
I like the cam design, should work well.

This guy inspired you too huh?

I'll probably make one for my shop at some point too. It would be real nice being able to do almost all my bending in-house without having to fork out cash for another shop to do it. Plus it would be faster turn around and build time for me too.
I'll be interested to see how yours turns out and what you end up into materials and parts to get it done.
