The 5.3 Colorado is pointless really if you get down to it. They're not fast and dont tow more.

Its not Toyota bring behind, its the Colorado needing a V8 to have to comparable performance.

The only problem is you can't get the V8 and a 4x4. Just forget about a standard trans.

I was looking at the Tacoma and the Colorado when i bought my truck this year. I spend alot of time researching both trucks and the Colorado is crap.

I spent alot of time on the Colorado forums researching and they have tranny problems, oil leaks, valve problems ect. They spent more time talking about how to fix their trucks after wheelin' then they did actually talking about wheelin'!

I will say that the V8 model I was looking at was very fast and much more fun to drive on the street then the Taco. The interior was just cheap and crappy looking though and the seats where extremely uncomfortable. I believe MSRP on the double cab I was looking at was about $32,000 and they where going to sell me it for $26,500 because they just couldn't get them off the lot.

You can get a V8 4x4 Colorado. I almost bought one before I bought my Taco.

This. A friend of a friend has one, and I like it. But I wouldn't buy it.

i started out shopping for a v8 colorado this fall. i had just bought a suburban from the same salesman two months before, and he actually talked me OUT of buying the colorado. can you believe that? he said he would rather see me in a 1500, so he would not have to hear me complain to him later about how horrendous the colorado was, and on top of it all, he could sell me a 1500 cheaper than the colorado (he had 77 1500's on the lot). talk about an honest salesman.

i really didn't want a half ton pickup truck, though, which is what led me to the taco. it tows 6500 lbs and gets decent mileage, and thus i could care less that it only has a v6. just suits my current needs really, really well. the toyota may not be cutting edge, but it's better than the colorado, not to mention the ford ranger, in nearly all areas.

Funny story about the salesman, I wouldn't buy a Colorado either, the interior is horrible, and does feel cramped.

One thing though, I wouldn't try and tow 6500 any distance or uphill. Use your sub!

If I shit in a bag and painted it different colors, added wheels, Nav, sunroof, and Onstar then mass produced it and sold it to the public I'd call it a GM product :D
