UPS. How the heck do the do this?!

How the heck do I get boxes that are like accordianed with folded with ripples on all around the edges? You know? Like the instrument? I'm just trying to understand what type of abuse this box may have incurred. They were shallow ripples and the inner contents were fine. But what in their processes cause this kind of abuse?

 

It is weird... I have heard numerous stories of boxes getting beat to hell and back but as much as I ship with them, I have never gotten a damaged box.

 

I hate UPS. They take FOREVER.

 

probably stacked with heavy stuff on top. That's why you need to pack stuff good if you're shipping.

 

Umm, they have first overnight (8am) guaranteed to ground (1-5 business days to US locations. And 2nd day, 3rd day and so on. All guaranteed. FedEx is almost identical to all locations. What do you mean by slow?

Also, follow UPS guideline in packing boxed and you should be fine. E.g. 50lb box stacked on top of a 5lb box that's mostly hollow wil result in accordion box.

These days all shippers are pretty much the same. They do their research on each other. And yes I'm in the business.

I don't know, it just seems really slow to me.

I have an order coming from the east coast. The vendor uses UPS....turns out that there will be a downshift to a slower gear....UPS is delivering to USPS....then I will get it.....What the hell???

 

UPS in all honesty does feel old school to me.

 

Like FedEx just seems new school

It seems no matter WHERE I order from....if I get just UPS Ground....it takes 7 days. I know our town is in BFE but dayum!

And that UPS to USPS tacks another 2 days on.....A-HOLES!

I agree with Derek...Post Office.....Priority Mail kicks ass!!!!! 3 days every time...no matter where from.....and CHEAP!

 

It's money back guaranteed. You should know ahead of time when a package is due for delivery. If, for any other reason than an act of god, your pkg is late, then call and make a claim. They will refund you your shipping cost.

UPS started out as a Ground only company and FedEx started as an air only company, but they have since added services to compete with each other. I will only use USPS, if the item shipped can be easily replaced and I don't give a shit about when it gets there.

Insurance claims process for UPS and FedEx are, from my experience comparable. USPS on the other hand is like pulling teeth. It's next to impossible to get a live person on the phone, and when you do, all claims are denied until you fight your ass for it.

 

My bro just tole me how this happens! he used to work in a UPS hanger/warehouse.

He siad it happens alot, bc there will be a heavier box behind it or on top and smashes it. or it could get thrown around bc its a lighter box(easier to just toss it) lol...

His stories make me never use UPS, ever!

 

Its called UPS smart post and it is the cheapest form of UPS if you want to call it that. UPS picks up the packages and ships them to a USPS "hub" then you get it delivered via USPS. The problem is that the packages can not be tracked thoroughly and it usually takes longer then UPS ground or USPS. Fed-Ex also has the same system in place.

Ex. UPS picks up a package in Philly then ships to the VA "hub" then off to NYC. UPS or Fed-ex would of shipped from Philly to NYC direct.

When you receive the package and see the shipping label you will notice it has numerous locations on it.

UPS routes are not owner operated
Fed-Ex routes are owner operated

From what I have found shipping 5,000 packages this year Fed-Ex ground is slower to deliver then UPS ground because of how they are set up. If a driver only has one package for a area he might delay it until he has more to deliver. It's more cost effective for the driver.
