Heater Recirculate question????

So when I turn on my heater and push the recirculate button after like 5 min the light goes off and I push it again and 5 min later shuts off again....Is this normal I dont remember this happening on my 05....I have a 2011 TRD Sport DCLB

 

I hear conflicting stories on this, some say this is supposed to happen, but my '07 stays on full time when I select it. Try pressing and holding the button for 5 or so seconds

Glad I found this...mine was doing this last night, 2011 as well...shit was pissing me off!!!

 

Yup on it going off and yup on holding it to keep it on HOWEVER, you are going to end up with high humidity in your truck and may fog the windows. Humidity, dampness, water are not good for the interior of your truck and its components...and fogged windows are not good for visability. Manufactures used to advertise "blow through" ventilation as it helped keep the interior dryer, including those you can't see or reach.

 

Assuming it's humid.

 

In an enclosed area such as this your body puts off enough water breathing to fog the windows if the outside temp is low.

 

I'm glad I found this too. My heater does this, and if I want to run the cold on air circulate it does it too.

Would say it makes sense for the humid area's of the US. I'm in Az, we don't know what humid is.

 

The re-circulation only turns itself on the 2 defrost settings (window and the feet/window).

This is designed to keep fresh air circulating to prevent fogging of the windows.
Also you will notice your AC will cycle on/off on these 2 settings, regardless if you have it on or not. This also further removes moisture from the air.
