I hate the shitty steering shaft issues of the first gen.

EG: i have like 1.5 inches of play in both fucking directions, because of a shitty engineered upper steering shaft crush joint. Now i gotta pull it all apart and tack weld it just to have a normal handling truck again.

The clock placing is also stupid.
The microscopic "rumble" seats of the Xtra cab are also completely useless unless you are shorter than 5 foot. Ever tried to get yer aging mom in the back seat ? Yea dont.

Other then that, i love my 03 xtra cab SR5 2.7L Prerunner :) Ive already decided to keep it till it explodes, then simply rebuild and continue driving.

Oil filter location, plastic bumper with horrible approach angles, i bought an auto, and I have to hold my steering wheel like 1-2 inches to the left for it to drive straight???

Other than that...my truck is AMAZING!!

just got my 96 a day ago, and the first thing my friend says when he got in to check it out is, "oh dam, you got a dick shift" before that that thought had never even crossed my mind, now whenever i look at it i think back to that and get a bit mad that he had to mention that.

in my 99 my foot almost ALWAYS fell asleep when driving for more than about 30 minutes. In the 96 i drove it 120 miles straight to get it back and never touched cruise, and my foot didnt even come close to falling asleep. I dont know what it is about the 96 seats, but i love them 100x more than the 99. Seat belts not retracting already is a bit irritating but thats it for now. Im sure ill find a few complaints down the road but i LOOOOOVE the dam thing!!!

hate the U-turn radius on these trucks...maybe cause I've been driving sporty cars all my life but I've been in many different toyota suv's or other trucks and they seem to bust a bi#@h just fine...but with my first gen, forget about making a u-turn in a smaller intersection...

Haha nope! If you are flippng a u on a 2 lane road say in a neighborhood you better be ready to go into 2 peoples front yards. But that's not that big of a deal. The tuning radius is about the last thing I worry about

well it's pretty sorry compared to any other car or truck. plus I'm in Los Angeles not Boise, more intersections here to deal with...besides that, I don't worry about a damn thing with my truck..but I really don't worry about that either it's just the one thing I've noticed that I don't like...

i love everything about the truck except the fact that the engine stops giving power at 4000 rpms and begins to moan and shutter violently.
