ok, so I bought my DCLB sport because I wanted a DC with a long bed. 5'box a waste of time *for me*.
Cool, so these trucks come with a hood scoop. Great styling, right?
But I use my truck for fishing/hunting/wheeling. I frickin HATE the scoop when I'm offroad. Mostly I'm wheeling alone, you don't take all your buddies hunting with you, kinda non-productive. Point being, I rarely wheel with a spotter. I'm always trying to see around the stupid thing.
This is low speed trail riding, not 60mph desert running like those socal trucks. My wife has an 09 Access cab trd and view is much better, but she doesnt want to trade hoods, scoop drives her nuts too.
Obvious solution, wheel the 09 but no lift = lost mud flaps and this is her DD. we got it because we have 2 dogs.
What do y'all think of your hoodscoops?

If i could do it all over again, i'd buy one WITHOUT the scoop.. Get the OFF ROAD package.

That SCOOP has a killer blind spot when driving. The sun reflects off the scooop and it perfectly aligns with my windshield, blinding me. Aggravating. And No, i won't sell it to anybody so dont' ask. I'd rather live with the issue though than spend the time to rip it off and sell it.

not that i wanna buy yours, but if you can sell it, and make some money why not? guess time is money
not to mention the safety issue, supposely if you're shorter it's ok as far as blinding

why? why i don't like it?

hurts my eyes when i drive. i drive a lot mind you so that blind spot bugs me. why i won't sell my hood? i like things OEM and because i bought my truck with it, i accept her for all the flaws she has..

kind of like marrying someone, you marry them for better or worse.

Abbreviations kill me. rollin904, what does mgm mean??
Sorry, I'm a relatively new poster, as you can see by my count.

wolfpack i love the fbody comment, I was thinking it reminds me of driving my old '81 Jimmy with 6' of hood out front.

aznutx, if you want a scoop, paint your hood silver streak mica and come to Victoria and make me an offer I can't refuse (not godfather style please) :D

I understood your issue with the hood  I was wondering why not trade hoods with someone and get rid of the scoop? simple fix, it is still an OEM part, there are a lot of people who would love to trade for the scoop.

I wish I could swap someone in in my area with a hood scoop. I wanted one but they didn't have one on the lot that had it installed. I just don't like that fact that its useless, but it does look nice.

Would love to trade hoods with somebody but would have to solve some problems. There's a sticker with my vin on the hood, for theft I.D. i think, plus i would want the 2006 emissions systems sticker instead of another year, in the event of resale. Might be a red flag for someone buying the truck...
And it would have to be SSM as i'm not interested enough to pay for paint.
Plus i'm a cheap bastard so i would want $$ plus no scoop hood.
    thanks for the clarification, rollin!

I like mine. Sun doesn't blind me although I always have sunglasses on. I don't consider it a blind spot either and can tell just fine where the front of the truck is. Maybe cause im 6'3 and don't sit low but at any rate it doesn't inhibit my vision. My rear view mirror in the other hand is right in my line of sight.

The reason you described is how I got a scooped hood. I have a PreRunner and another member wanted a flat hood so we traded. I love the look of the scoop but I only drive in the Urban jungles.

A friend of mine (a DCSB sr5 owner) told me that her daughter says my truck looks like Dudley the Dragon. My kid's too old so IDK WTF that means, but she laughed pretty good...

ROFLMFAO. I just googled dudley. the pic above doesnt have nostrils, i think the nostrils are the headlights and the scoop looks like his eyes.
I can see it with a little imagination...and does ANY man know what a woman sees???
