Type R 12 still has more cone area...

I dont know how or when, but it is entirely possible - enclosure design - vehicle used - classic cheater amp- older termlab is known to show higher numbers - different mic - etc. Lots of reasons and possibilities that he would have hit the number.

dont call someone else out unless you know what is going on. With single 8" drivers hitting significantly higher than his claimed 143, there is a good possibility he hit it.

Besides - this is the Internet - who cares?

Also, read between the lines - he says "with the right amp", implying already that it was a cheater amp...

Yep, and that's exactly the reason why. The Type R is inherently a little more efficient (I'm thinking it's the soft parts) but not a whole lot more. The 12 vs 10 doesn't double the cone area so there is extra efficiency in the woofer to start.

you know its not about the number of speakers its about quality and power you have to them, i technically have 4 speakers but i only have my fronts hooked up and they go to my speaker amp and it is tuned for just them its twice as loud as my buddys truck with 6 lower grade aftermarket speakers. i mean dont get me wrong you can make it louder with more but if you buy quality the then you'll spend the same as if you load it down with low grade speakers. on a side not idk how you guys can fit such big sub boxes in such a small truck im way too tall for that big of a box!

I don't know that they take votes, but I'd vote for you (and/or mattg43).

I appreciate the vote of confidence, but Steven is a much better choice. He is in the industry (though not a retailer for all the car audio brands, so he can be un-biased), has a ton of knowledge, knows the truck well, etc.

This is simply a hobby that I play with, and I certainly appreciate the time, effort, and help he has provided over the years I have known him. Including keeping me out of the MS8 for the truck!

And the info you are providing here is a great help to the community as well.

Agreed. Matt, lbridges and Steven would be the ideal choices for A/V forum mods. GabeJ is proving to be pretty valuable himself.

I love my subs and am 100% content with my purchase.. even at $400. My coworker was out last night and the guy that filled in for him had a $200 Kicker set up with some 600w amp I've never heard of. he said "My subs hit pretty hard". we closed and everybody was leaving when he showed me how they sound. It was very sloppy and not loud at all. I showed him mine and I think I hurt his feelings. My bass alone was easily twice as loud. not to mention my tweeters and mids. he sat there in his truck until I left the parking lot.

    Nice!

Glad you ended up with something that worked out. That, in the end, is the ONLY thing that matters.
