    So...

I bought a set of new tires for the truck, Michelin LTX M/S 265/75/16's. My wife asked me: Is that it now? Are you done?

    I said: Well...

She gave me that look, and said...You just bought those 5100 shock things last week and you put the bluetooth in that garage door opener remote space, will it ever end?

    She forgot:
    Metra Ipod adaptor
    Lund Genesis Tonneau
    Husky mats
    Custom seat covers
    tint
    rear lock mod
    Pop lock tailgate lock
    EZ down tailgate shock
    Toyota bed mat
    Supertooth bluetooth
    4 piece billet grill
    Hood struts
    Secondary air filter mod
    VVT-i emblem
    Autobot sticker ;)
    Fumoto oil drain valve
    Fog lights
    Running boards
    sill protectors
    Skid plate
    door trim
    custom mirrors
    hood protector
    in channel rain guards
    Hitch and wiring
    brake light hitch cover
    Toyota alarm system
    various other crap
Suspension TSB (which made me HAVE to get:
    5100 shocks for the front
    New Michelin tires all around

I just got my truck in August of this year and it only has 6,000 miles on it. I got to thinking:

I've done almost everything I want to it. Perhaps maybe some cargo lights...

What makes me want to stop?

    Money...nah.

It's usually just when I'm done...I don't know when that is. I wondered how other people who do those major mods on TW & TN know when and if they are ever done. Guys like PB who have 8,000,000 posts and seem to do some major surgery on their truck like every month. ;)

Some people do nothing at all. When they buy the truck that's it.

When I bought it I knew I would be putting about $5,000 more into it all along...I guess I just never told her.

How about you guys? Did you know what how you were going to work it when you bought it or did you just wing it and catch the mod bug later?

I am glad that you guys understand, because my wife doesn't either.

I just put a Pop-n-Lock tailgate lock on yesterday. ;)

It never ends.....and it gets WORSE! You are diseased my friend!

It all started with my 96 tacoma 8 years ago. The 2007 tacoma is about the 6th vehicle I've owned that I've modified (and I still own 3 of them).

    Believe me, it never stops!!

Hey Viper! ! What a list of Mods! ! !

I'm one of thoes guys that haven't done any mods so far (Got my 08 Taco TRD Sport Oct. 1st) and have 400 miles on it:D I have been married almost 50 years now and that isn't by luck either! ! ! I have learned not to rush into things and then one day I'll get those big sad eyes and let her think it was her idea and one of these days I'll have some Running Boards, Tail Gate Lock, you know-things she wants! !!

So you can see I'm not in a hurry because for all the miles I'm putting on it I'll still have a new truck next year:D

I'm in a little different situation. This site has been a bad influence in giving me the mod bug, but I haven't done much yet. I've just got too many hobbies. I've got to share my spare time and money among too many things. Previously it's been mostly woodworking, but now the prices (in time and money) of mods to the truck are of similar size. To mod the truck means fewer power tools. It's so hard to decide sometimes.

I've always wanted mods(hence the sig line--I've said that an awful lot over the years)--just a matter of when I have the $$ to actually get them. I finally got a 2000 Taco about 4 years back, but didn't have the cash to do what I wanted. Traded that one in on my dream truck and slowly but surely that list of stuff that I've always wanted will get done. Luckily, I am the wife, and Hubby is totally understanding *grin* It's great to have his opinions since we both tend to have similar ideas on mods.

LOL! He knows! I've never thought my interests in trucks, mods, guns, etc. was odd, but he tells me that I'm fairly "different" for a girl....

It could happen! We all know how addictive it can get!

ROFL! Hubby and I were just having this conversation! "You got your lift kit. *I* get the next mod..." he says....

You're right--it's not as good as it sounds *all* the time!

Hubby's got a '97 Jeep Cherokee with some issues that need to be resolved before he gets a higher lift (which is "the next mod" he wants as of right now tho that could change to whatever he decides on later). We have to save up in between, and *when* the next thing happens depends on how much the next thing costs. We're fair--its much more fun to work together with this stuff! :)

I'm just doing little stuff right now but after the holiday will bring the bigger mods like wheels and tires. I bought mine in August too and turned 5000 miles yesterday but I had so much going on this fall: brother in law married 2nd weekend in Sept; sister married first weekend Oct; week at Disney World Halloween week; Christmas. Just not enough cash in the system for me at the moment so it's been small mods thus far.

The wheels and tires were planned from the beginning (have I mentioned lately how much I hate the steelies?). I prefer to buy only the stuff I need with a vehicle and then upgrade using the aftermarket. That way, the additional costs are being jacked up with interest.

So, I'm getting there slowly. I just got the urge this past weekend to upgrade the stereo (ruh roh, raggy) so that will be my next project after the wheels.
