Maybe the temp in your garage was too cold for spraying the bedliner?

You said it was snowing outside right? lol

Don't wet sand, it doesn't do any good on textured bedliner. Try higher grit (100 or so) sand paper. Sanding bedliner is tough once it's cured. The good thing about it being textured is it doesn't have to be perfect, it'll cover a lot of imperfections left by sanding.

So what's the consensus? Wet sand 100 grit? Or dry sand and wash?

Could be, or just the cans were too cold. I'm going to bring them inside to warm up and fire up the heater for a good 30 min before I try the next coat..

That happened to be with my valance, I dry sanded with 120 grit and resprayed. I still have some of the runs if you look really really close cause bed liner is a bitch to sand smooth. It looks like you were just too close with the can and/or applied too thick of a coat. Being cold will retard the drying but shouldn't cause runs like that it was applied properly (as long as it was still warm enough to be within the specified limits). Also, don't just shut off the heater when you're done, you need to give it some time to dry in the heat.

Sun was out today, so I kept the door open. Sanded it down with 100 grit sandpaper, then gave it a quick rinse and got back to spraying. I blotted flat any large clumps that looked like they might run, but overall had no problems.

I think the biggest mistake I made last night ( just realized) is that I forgot to sand the primer coat, it was too smooth and that caused the liner to drip. These last 4 coats I just put on had no serious dripping.

I'll post pics when it dries, thanks for the help doods.

Also considering doing the bumper plastic to match, and possibly the fender flares, but I don't know if I want to take it that far yet.

Call it a dumb question but can you paint the liner a different color once it dries

Not a dumb question, this duplicolor bed armor you can, I'm not sure about other stuff. In the promo video from the company, they mentioned using krylon fusion ($3/can walmart stuff) to paint over it...I'm thinking if it ever fades (supposed to be UV protected also), I'll probably go over it with some flat black.

Line-X can be shot with color to match your truck. More expensive obviously but just throwing it out there as an option. Plus, it's integral color so if you scratch or rub it, it won't just rub off like paint would.

Done. Turned out pretty good, I'm happy with it. Matches the plastic pretty good, no need to do that. For the less than $20 project total it was totally worth it. I'll post another photo tomorrow when I get it mounted and the sun is out.

Nice glad you got it fixed.

It will be very strong and tough if you do many very small coats, giving some time in between each for it to cure.

Should work great my bumper is holding up fantastic. I didn't even prime. Just sanded with 80 to scratch the hell out of it, then threw a bunch of thin coats of liner.

Wish my rock sliders had held up better though. I'm not sure what I want to do with them at this point. I probably wont even keep them if they are going to get rusty every year requiring a repaint.

Here it is...Looks great, I love it! Probably gonna do the emblems and fender flares. Any little discoloration you see is just a little water from the bath.

    looks good!

I'm thinking about doing this tomorrow. Do you have an aftermarket front bumper?

The only reason I ask is I dont know how three different shades of black will look on my truck.

Yeah, that's what bothers me most about having a black truck, too many different shades of black, sometimes it just looks tacky. If you're really worried about it, just color match the bumpers. Otherwise, it doesn't look too bad, because it matches pretty good with the plastic on the bumper.

Wow, strong work op! Ima do dis. I've been dying to finish the chrome-bannishing process and a sweet plate bumper is nowhere in the near future. Thanks!

Thanks man, it's pretty simple, go for it.

Yeah, I would just stick with the powder coat in this scenario.
