Didn't vote, as I couldn't find specs on the Rosen -- suspect Alpine will beat it hands down, but I get surprised a lot. Crutchfield seems to have dropped them, may or may not mean anything, but worth a call.

Good point. Yeah I went with the Rosen because I want the OEM look. I checked out the Alpine at car toys didn't really like the design. Man the Rosen was expensive at $1251 including tax.

Those with Navigation where did you mount your gps antenna and also where do you wire the parking brake for the dvd player to only play in park?

GPS puck: Mounted it on top of the plastic defroster duct but under the vinyl dashboard. Not seen from outside, and the dashboard (plastic parts anyway) are almost transparent to the GPS signal frequency.

Parking Brake: Where to run the wire if you want to use if while in motion varies by unit. Some are as simple as just grounding the wire, some need a switch or a relay, and the Pioneer 930 uses a a ground connection to a lab-tech test pin in the wiring harness. If you really want it to work like a factory unit (no video in motion, no GPS programming in motion), then just find the parking brake switch and tap into that line (colors may vary by year, so that's about all I could offer).

Were any of those off brand unit a Rosen? I should have waited to get more feedback. I've already put the order in for the Rosen and all order are final.

I really wanted to stay with the factory look navigation. There were some alternative but Rosen looked like the best one on the market for tacomas. I'm pretty sure that if I gotten the aftermarket one it wouldn't last me a year. It would get ripped out of my dash.

Yeah I remember reading that post. Yeah I think I kind of over payed. I called a couple of store and they ranged from $950 to $2000 installed. One place I went to wanted $950 up front to order it. So I just went to car toys and did a $600 deposit of $1251.

I should get my Rosen unit sometime this week. So those that mounted the GPS puck in the dust vent how is your reception? Also where is the park brake indicator wire?

Did you get the the Rosen unit that has the matching textured silver surround? can you give an update when you get It? Im looking to get one myself. I'm just worried about the ipod interface and how well It works compared to my Pioneer 4300. Also, when you get it installed, let us know how the fitment is, as In if its sturdy, squeaks, rattles, etc. Mine drives me crazy right now. Hope you like It man! :)

Rosen looks oem, but it costs more and offers much less. I'd go with the alpine.

Plus i've never heard of rosen so i can't say i'd trust their unit to last too long

Youu mean from the surround right? It took me awhile, Just had to use a small flat head and pop out the little clips that hold It in place.. if that makes sense.

Kind of. I'm still having trouble removing it from the surround.
