Oem ones aren't that bad. Mine was a pain because the boots I'm using will let the diff side over extend and let the balls fall out of the cage. To get it out of the diff juat tie some wire or a strap and pull straight out should juat pop out. Then put it in with a buddy so you can hit it with a hammer while they hold it straight.

ive now replaced mine 5 times, two on passenger, three on driver. get an autozone, lifetime warranty. be prepared to pull spindle if your working on own, if not then just bottom ball join (4 bolts) and tie rod end (maybe). DO NOT BUY THE REPAIR KIT, they are perfectly round, now the odd shape of the cv half shaft.

pullint is easy, pull brake caliper and hang up somewhere, on spring is what i use.
pull disc. pull dust cap of hub. pull cotter pin and 36mm nut. Pull 4 bolts on lower ball joint and maybe tie rod end. get under truack with pry bar, big pry bar and hammer. pry out. this is half the battle getting it out. pry off of the diff lip, some say you need to take skid plates off, some say you dont. ive always taken mine off.might need to work it out. once out, you will lose a little diff fluid, maybe 2oz. on new one, grease lose c clip with THICK axle grease as it needs to be centered when it goes in, the entire cv half shaft must be straight going in, ortherwise if you bump it the c clip will become uncentered and you cannot get it in. this is the other hard part, getting it in. some say cclip should be opend to the bottom, others to the top, ive done top/side/bottom everything. once its popped back into place, and i use a rubber mallet somtimes on end of cv, build everything else back up aaaand done. 3 hour job if your lazy, and you have the right tools. 6 horus if your frustrated, trying to work fast, and keep running into roadblocks.

good luck! message me if you have any problems!

For those of you who have rear shocks other than OME or 5100, let's say with a 1.5-2" lift, what's the shortest collapsed length you guys have been able to run?

Or has/does anyone know what the shortest collapsed length that would work?

    TIA

Edit: I know I know compress the springs, but if anyone knew it would save me some time.

So I am finally getting out of hotel rooms and into a nice little apartment. I rented a place up in Oro Valley in Tucson. A little 1 bedroom, 1 bath, and it comes with a private 20x30 foot garage. I have spent the last 2 days trying to get all my utilities set up and buying some of the basic stuff I need. TV, bed, kitchen stuff, etc. All I really need now is a cheap little TV stand, cheap little couch, and I am good to go for the time being.

It will be nice to be out of a hotel again and into a place of my own. I love the fact that I have my own garage to do some work on my bike and truck, as well as it being a gated community with 24/hr cameras and such.

And I hate you... ON a side note, I finally ordered my front & rear bumpers from CBI. I should have them shortly after the holidays, could use a hand putting them on after I paint them. I am also going to get one of the new Smittybilt X2O Comp 10k pound winches. Comes with synthetic line, fairlead, and has an awesome warrenty since they say that the winch and relay is completly submersable.
