    Just wanted to say after a few thousand miles I like these tires. I din't think id like them as much as the BFG T/A KO's 256/75/16's. Off road on sandy rock fire trails, trails (sandy rocky dirt) wet, dry & HWY driving. I'm very surprised in the Cooper ST. If I could do it again I might go with the SST MAXX 265/75/16's they have a deeper tread than the BFG about 1/2 inch taller. The 255/85/16's roll easy on the road just a little hum. The only loss is hard turning on streets (not much). Just my 2.

    Ya maybe it is a property of this size. My KM2s have great highway manners, very stiff. They have been performing amazing in the snow, and great offroad. Nothing bad to say basically.

    Are the coopers a 10 ply? The KM2s are. Hence the rigidity.

    Ya in this size the KM2's are E load range. Stiffens up your ride a bit, but performs great on the road and is tough as nails offroad.

    Anethema - I've been reading so much that my head is going to explode, so pardon the question if you've answered it. Did you regear w/ those 255/85/16s? And how much of a lift is needed to run those? No trimming?

    I have stock gears, but I have a manual which gives a bit of a boost in that area.

    Hell another guy was running 35's on here with a manual and said it was fine!

    I run 2.5 ish inches with no rubbing, but it is icon coilovers rather than just a spacer etc, not sure if that makes a difference.

    So what's the MINIMUM lift needed to run these without rubbing?

    I don't want to lift 3", was thinking 2" at max, but maybe even running lower. Are there pros and cons?

    My front lift is around 2.5". Wouldn't go lower.

    So for M/T type tires, what is avaliable in the 255/85R16's. I have found a couple A/T tires and there are KM2's but I am looking for a M/T like MT/R's and such. I have a second set of rims for my dedicated off road tires.

    On the street I am running 285/75R16 BFG A/T's but want a good aggressive set of 255/75R16.

    Yea, thats kinda what I came across as well. I am looking for something as a dedicated offroad tire, sometime like the MT/R. I have 2 sets of wheels andwant/plan on running the BFG T/A's on the road and something more aggressive offroad. So it looks like its KM2's or a differant size.

    255 KM2s are great from what I've seen.

    Honestly 285 MTR's might be better though.

    For what its worth, I ran a set of 33 x 12.50 on my stock, NOT LIFTED, 1987 toyota pickup for 110,000 miles and had very little rubbing. The wheel wells were bigger on those trucks though.

    I am planning on getting a set of 255/85/16 for my stock 2002 Tacoma and from what I have seen it might be best to raise the truck about 2 inches.

    We'll see.
