So me and my buddy took a 4 wheeler ride earlier this morning (midnight) and we got turned around pretty bad out in the trails. We finally found our way out of the woods to a familiar road that is about 5 blocks from my house, so we decided to cruise our way home nice and slow.

Low and behold, blue lights, I stopped, my buddy ran  because he had a few beers (probably not enough for DUI, but whatever) I wasn't drinking and just stopped.

The LEO wrote me a ticket for operating an unregistered vehicle on the road. Which in florida is a misdemeanor (no points). He told me that he wasn't going to let me off because my buddy ran....wtf?? I stopped! But he just let me ride the bike home.

    So....I am scared shitless.

I have to appear in court (dont know what date yet). I have never been ticketed, and never even pulled over before...

I have NO record, nothing, and pursuing a career as a Paramedic.... (already done with school...looking for a job)

I dont want this to fuck me over...

Someone help me feel better :(

I don't see this as a big deal

I had several moving violations on my record when I got hired to be the police

Just go in, apologize to the judge and explain what happened and pay your fine and be done with it

    but criminal misdemeanor? :(

but thanks, feels good coming from tigerfan...being a LEO and all. :D

The big shitter is there there were two LEO's there and the one that wasn't writing me up said he recognized me from riding with the local ambulance as a Medic Intern (probably runa few calls with them)....and the guy writing me up sounded like he was having a bad night.

I feel so sick to my stomach...

Maybe it's different in florida...but up here we dont identify things as criminal/non criminal

Either way, most employers understand that tickets happen...and as long as they are not in excess, or for something ridiculous like DUI...you should be good to go

Like the other guy said...ask if there are ways to expunge it

Just man up, and tell the judge exactly what happened, pay your fine and move on

I will, honesty is the best policy. Wish the LEO would have been happier that I actually stopped...unlike the other 99% of the people who don't.

first offense of any kind i'm assuming.. get your lawyer to arrange a meeting with the DA/Judge agree to pay the fine if it's scratched from your record.

Yes first offense...but I have no money for a lawyer...probably wont have the dough to pay the fine either.
