    when i got my magnaflow exhaust system installed the guy asked me if i wanted him to cut the exhaust pipe to like short to make it louder, is this true?

    Well yeah it'll be louder as the exhaust is resonating off of the bottom of the pickup then. Louder in cab, mostly same sound out of cab.

    Kinda makes sense if you look at the physics of it....

    Less piping means less energy lost to vibrations and and more energy exiting the pipe....

    Could of also just pulled that out of my ass....

    I know you didn't want to hear it, but I already told you what happens. Look up some of the guys who wheel their trucks a lot. Many of them cut their exhausts because that's just one more thing to hang up when going over obstacles.

    It's a bolt-on system so it wouldn't take more than 15 minutes to put it back on after it cools off. I might try that as soon as I get my new tires delivered. (Truck is grounded right now)

    I never said it is a bad thing... Cutting the exhaust has its place. But for someone who just wants a louder exhaust, it is impractical is what I am saying. Go with a different muffler (or none) and open up the other parts of your exhaust if you are going for sheer volume.
