My new (I've had it for 3 weeks) truck came with 3 months trial to XM. Wondering what to expect after the trial runs out -- one neighbor buddy seems to think they make better offers than the standard, approx $12 a month. Depending on the package.

Anyone around here have any personal experience?

I'll prolly enjoy the sat radio but not $12 worth. Just sayin'

    Thanks,
    MTM

sorry if this has already been covered, I searched around a little and nothing jumped out at me

At the end of your trial you either will get a call from customer service or you can call. I think its called retention department. Its around $80 for XM or Sirius by itself, or around $110 if you get either one plus the best of the other. That would be for a year. They might still have the lifetime for around $350-375 if you really like it.
I personally cancelled the subscription and stream music from my cell phone now.
    hope that helps.

I love the satellite radio and renewed the subscription. We go flyfishing all over the place and usually camp nearby. Nothing better than sitting in a lawn chair with a beer listening to a baseball game on the satellite. Makes long drives a lot more bearable too.

When your trial is over, call to cancel - there is even an option to cancel when you call the SiriusXM number. You have to indicated that it's too much money to pay full price, and they will offer you a deal. I've gotten 5 months for $20, $77 for a year, and more recently a full year for half price. I've done this for almost 5 years on my wife's car, and will do the same when the trial is over on my 2012. They even tell you to call back when the time is up and they will get you a deal again.

Funny thing, after my first month, my SiriusXM stopped working one day on the drive home. Apparently the dealer never properly activated my account and it was deactivated after 30 days. Since I didn't have an account set up, they gave me 3 more months on my trial.

Lot's of folks have remarked that their free subscription was still active after several years. I purchased my truck in November 2010 and am still enjoying free SAT radio. Suggest you not take any action until they turn you off. (I know some might argue this is stealing, but I don't feel it my responsibility to call and point out their sloppy bookkeeping???)

+1! I've heard XM is in the hurt - they will do pretty much anything to get people to keep open subscriptions, even give longer trials and slash subscription fees. I guess people realize you really dont need a subscription to listen to the music you like in this day and age...

I have a related question: When you buy a vehicle that comes with XM, do you fill out a separate form at the dealer just for the XM? Or does the dealer give XM your info behind your back? I'm asking because I'm looking at a taco now that has XM... and I really dont want to inadvertently get billed for a service I dont even want. If they want to keep it active on the truck fine - but I wont pay for it!

They don't have your info until you call to activate it after the trial is over. And you wouldn't get a bill without a credit card being on file xm is paid prior to used not billed after.

Wow I'm guessing you saw that post before I deleted it, didn't intend to post it here that was meant for a different forum.
