a buddy of mine posted this on facebook and someone commented and said that ESPN had no record of him ever saying that...wonder if it is true but i couldn't agree more

 

Read back in the thread a bit, bud. That quote is bullshit, and wasn't Saban. You can't find a single source for it anywhere. I hope you spend the rest of the night trying.

In a perfect world, yes, you should have to win your conference. However, these 2 teams are the 2 best in the nation. And that is what the system should do - put the 2 best teams in the nation in the championship game. I know...you're gonna bring up who OK St beat and who Bama beat. The fact of the matter is that the #2 team in the nation lost to the #1 team in the nation in overtime by 3 points. The #3 team lost to an unranked team. Bama is the best one loss team in the nation strictly by the quality of their loss.

SHOULD you have to win your conference? Sure

Are LSU/Bama the two best teams in the nation? Absolutely.

 

As I've said before, a conference championship shouldn't be a prerequisite to getting in the NC game. It is entirely possible for the best two teams in the nation to be in the same conference, and they can't both win the title.

Sure, Okie St has a good argument this year, but WHAT IF you had the current situation in the SEC, but no other conference had a team with fewer than 3 losses? Would a 3-loss Big 12 champ be more deserving than a 1-loss Alabama who lost in OT to undefeated, SECC La State?

People need to quit spreading that quote. The only way I will believe it is if Saban tells me himself...or...I see some sort of video evidence of him saying it.

 

It doesn't even sound like Saban. If you've ever heard one of his press conferences, he'd never say something like that. He'd talk about the process, and controlling what you can control, and every person doing his job.

We're 7-0 right now in NCGs. But since 2 SEC teams are playin, the SEC will lose it's first BCS NCG, but we'll also win it...so we'll be 8-1*...the asterisk is because one of the SEC teams HAD to lose.

Wait please forgive me. I forgot you're an sec fan which means you have 12..er...14 favorite teams. And no matter how many of those 13 other favorites beat your mostest favoritest team you're ok with that because at least your favorite team lost to your favorite team.
